TECHNOLOGY We believe leadership education should be accessible for all AIA members, therefore this multi-venue conference model is aimed at leveraging technology to produce engaging mix of presentations and discussions. Using live stream and an integrated audience engagement platform, we connect four different cities and a virtual audience for the National Plenary Broadcast. Spanning all four time zones, the program features both local speakers and national keynotes. PAST SPEAKERS AND THEMES Bringing together visionary speakers on leadership, both inside and outside the profession, Leadership Institute has included: • Sally Blount, Dean, Kellogg School of Management • Steven Lewis, FAIA, NOMAC, LEED AP, 2016 winner of the AIA Whitney M. Young Jr. Award • Vaki Mawema, Senior Associate and Studio Director, Gensler in Washington, DC • Roselinde Torres Senior Partner and Managing Director of the Boston Consulting Group Why sponsor? Events like the Leadership Institute provide a platform to both teach and learn from others’ experiences which become invaluable in strengthening leaders at all levels. As an emerging professional, I got involved with the Leadership Institute to help continue to develop programming which provides tools to not only help lead from the top but empowers future leaders to challenge and advocate in their current positions. —Marisa Nemcik, 2018 AIA LI Committee Member The Leadership Institute is a movement. The programming and speakers every year have you leaving invigorated and brainstorming of where you can push your career next. The Leadership Institute is important to me because it equips professionals to build the profession they envision. —James Yankopoulos, Past attendee and 2018 Committee Member Being involved with the Leadership Institute has helped me learn how to become a stronger leader and how to get involved at a local, state and national level. After attending the 2016 Leadership Institute in Indianapolis, I was able to help put my newly refined skills to use to serve as a regional associate at the national level. The Leadership Institute gives emerging professionals the tools and resources to help them become advocates within the profession and to their community. —Ashley Thornberry, Past attendee and 2018 Committee Member The Leadership Institute has been an opportunity for me to do just that. It has made me a better leader by collaborating with all types of leaders; from west coast to east coast and from various career levels and various backgrounds. It is not just about seeing how others lead, it’s about taking those tangible lessons and applying them to our own leadership styles. —Korey White, 2018 AIA LI Co-Chair Leadership Institute 2018 Sponsorship Prospectus 3
