Who are we? “When I leave school I want to be a ……………….” We would love to help you fill in the gaps! Makomborero (Zimbabwe) is a Trust established and run “Education is the most powerful by local educational weapon which you can use to professionals with the goal change the world” of reaching into urban and Nelson Mandela rural communities to empower individuals, uplift The Scholarship communities, serve our nation and so impact Makomborero seeks to identify suitable candidates capable Zimbabwe, the wider world of A-level entrance. In 2021 we will be offering A-level and the next generation. scholarships; 8 full scholarships to study at excellent Harare Schools offering based private schools (Internal Scholarship) and 10 full scholarships: scholarships to study at top government day schools (External Scholarship). Thus provide the chosen students with the resources to achieve their educational goals where they may have fallen short through financial hardship and/or not having access to well-resourced A-level facilities in their current schools. As part of the scholarship scheme the students will be expected to assist with the ongoing community work in local Government schools. Hellenic Academy The scholarship will include: Internal Scholarship External Scholarship All tuition fees All tuition fees and stationery and stationery St Georges College School Uniform Contribution to requirements School Uniform Costs Examination Fees Examination Fees Weekly accommodation Gateway High School Mentorship and mentorship
Scholarship Eligibility o The scholarship scheme is designed to recruit the most able O-Level student. Potential candidates must either already have attained (or be predicted) a number of A grades at O-level. o The final selection process will be completed by January 2021 and will be before the actual O-level results have been published. o From time to time, the selection committee may decide to award a number of scholarships that fall outside of the strict academic requirements. o Makomborero welcomes any application from government school students that feel he/she can clearly demonstrate the passion and potential to achieve top grades in their chosen A-level subjects. Selection Process o All applications must be received by the date stated on the application forms. (October) o Each application will be carefully considered and an initial shortlist drawn up. (November) o Shortlisted candidates will be called in for an interview and scholarship testing. (December and January – depending on the restrictions of Covid-19) o The final selection process will be completed before the O-level results have been published, but in some cases we may wait for the results before informing the students who have been awarded scholarships. Please leave either your completed application form with your Head Teacher or post to Makomborero Zimbabwe, P.O. Box MP753, Mt Pleasant, Harare or send a text message to 0774816742 to arrange a drop off at Mount Pleasant Fashions (It’s a shop at Bond Street shops in Mt Pleasant along The Chase). The Deadline for completed applications is Friday 23rd October 2020. Once we have drawn up an initial short list we will contact you if you have been selected for interview/scholarship testing.
