CALL TO WORSHIP
 The Lord Jesus who calls us to worship him today
 is the same Jesus who endured the shame of the cross,
 and today is Lord of lords and King of kings.
 So with the saints of all ages we say,
 “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
 to receive power and wealth and wisdom
 and strength and honour and glory and praise!”

ONLY A HOLY GOD
 Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
 Who else could make every king bow down
 Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
 Only a Holy God

 What other beauty demands such praises
 What other splendour outshines the sun
 What other majesty rules with justice
 Only a Holy God

 Chorus
 Come and behold Him
 The One and the Only
 Cry out, sing holy
 Forever a Holy God
 Come and worship the Holy God

 What other glory consumes like fire
 What other power can raise the dead
 What other name remains undefeated
 Only a Holy God

 Chorus

 Who else could rescue me from my failing
 Who else would offer His only Son
 Who else invites me to call Him Father
 Only a Holy God
 Only my Holy God

CONFESSION
 Gracious God,
 our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo.
 Forgive what our lips tremble to name,
 what our hearts can no longer bear,
 and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgement.
 Set us free from a past that we cannot change;
 open to us a future in which we can be changed;
 and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image,
 through Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. Amen.

SCRIPTURAL ASSURANCE OF PARDON
 Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet,
 they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become
 like wool.
                                                                                                       Scripture Reference: Isaiah 1:18

PRAYER OF PRAISE

                      TW Kids Crèche and Beginners leave at this point

COME BEHOLD THE WONDROUS MYSTERY
 Come behold the wondrous mystery Come behold the wondrous mystery
 in the dawning of the King. Christ the Lord upon the tree.
 He the theme of heaven’s praises In the stead of ruined sinners
 robed in frail humanity. hangs the Lamb in victory.
 In our longing, in our darkness                                     See the price of our redemption;
 now the light of life has come. see the Father’s plan unfold.
 Look to Christ, who condescended Bringing many sons to glory
 took on flesh to ransom us. grace unmeasured, love untold.

 Come behold the wondrous mystery                                    Come behold the wondrous mystery;
 He the perfect Son of Man. slain by death the God of life.
 In His living, in His suffering                                     But no grave could e’er restrain Him;
 never trace nor stain of sin. praise the Lord; He is alive!
 See the true and better Adam                                        What a foretaste of deliverance;
 come to save the hell-bound man. how unwavering our hope.
 Christ the great and sure fulfilment Christ in power resurrected
 of the law; in Him we stand. as we will be when He comes.

PSALM 109
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1
     Be not silent, O God of my praise!
2
     For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me,
       speaking against me with lying tongues.
3
     They encircle me with words of hate,
       and attack me without cause.
4
     In return for my love they accuse me,
       but I give myself to prayer.
5
     So they reward me evil for good,
       and hatred for my love.
6
     Appoint a wicked man against him;
       let an accuser stand at his right hand.
7
     When he is tried, let him come forth guilty;
       let his prayer be counted as sin!
8
     May his days be few;
       may another take his office!
9
     May his children be fatherless
       and his wife a widow!
10
     May his children wander about and beg,
       seeking food far from the ruins they inhabit!
11
     May the creditor seize all that he has;
       may strangers plunder the fruits of his toil!
12
     Let there be none to extend kindness to him,
       nor any to pity his fatherless children!
13
     May his posterity be cut off;
       may his name be blotted out in the second generation!
14
     May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD,
       and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out!
15
     Let them be before the LORD continually,
       that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth!
16
     For he did not remember to show kindness,
       but pursued the poor and needy
       and the broken-hearted, to put them to death.
17
     He loved to curse; let curses come upon him!
       He did not delight in blessing; may it be far from him!
18
     He clothed himself with cursing as his coat;
       may it soak into his body like water,
       like oil into his bones!
19
     May it be like a garment that he wraps round him,
       like a belt that he puts on every day!

                                            6
20
     May this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD,
       of those who speak evil against my life!
21
     But you, O God my LORD,
       deal on my behalf for your name's sake;
       because your steadfast love is good, deliver me!
22
     For I am poor and needy,
       and my heart is stricken within me.
23
     I am gone like a shadow at evening;
       I am shaken off like a locust.
24
     My knees are weak through fasting;
       my body has become gaunt, with no fat.
25
     I am an object of scorn to my accusers;
       when they see me, they wag their heads.
26
     Help me, O LORD my God!
       Save me according to your steadfast love!
27
     Let them know that this is your hand;
       you, O LORD, have done it!
28
     Let them curse, but you will bless!
       They arise and are put to shame, but your servant will be glad!
29
     May my accusers be clothed with dishonour;
       may they be wrapped in their own shame as in a cloak!
30
     With my mouth I will give great thanks to the LORD;
       I will praise him in the midst of the throng.
31
     For he stands at the right hand of the needy one,
       to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.
9
     Moab is my washbasin;
       upon Edom I cast my shoe;
       over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
10
     Who will bring me to the fortified city?
       Who will lead me to Edom?
11
     Have you not rejected us, O God?
       You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
12
     Oh grant us help against the foe,
       for vain is the salvation of man!
13
     With God we shall do valiantly;
       it is he who will tread down our foes.

TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS
 Turn your eyes upon Jesus
 Look full in His wonderful face
 And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
 In the light of His glory and grace

 Turn your eyes to the hillside
 Where justice and mercy embraced
 There the Son of God gave His life for us
 And our measureless debt was erased

 Chorus
 Jesus, to You we lift our eyes
 Jesus, our glory and our prize
 We adore You, behold You, our Saviour ever true
 Oh Jesus, we turn our eyes to You

 Turn your eyes to the morning
 And see Christ the Lion awake
 What a glorious dawn, fear of death is gone
 For we carry His life in our veins

 Chorus

 Turn your eyes to the heavens
 Our King will return for His own
 Every knee will bow, every tongue will shout,
 ‘All glory to Jesus alone!’

 What love could remember no wrongs we have done
 Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum
 Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
 Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

 Chorus
 Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
 Stronger than darkness, new every morn
 Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

 What patience would wait as we constantly roam
 What Father, so tender, is calling us home
 He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
 Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

 What riches of kindness He lavished on us
 His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
 We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford
