23 April 2020 Welcome Back Welcome back for the most interesting start to a Term that we have ever had. I have been teaching for 44 years and this is the first time that I have been involved in Learning at Home programs. It just proves you are never too old to learn. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work that our staff, parents and students are doing to make the absolute best of the current situation for our much loved children. Our teachers have received many positive comments about what has been provided to support the learning programs. As parents take your time, you will learn as we go along. We fully understand that we will all take time to adapt to the new ways of working. Please make sure you contact your teacher with good news stories, photos and any concerns you have. All things considered the week has run smoothly and as a school community we should be proud of how we have progressed and what we achieved during Week 1. (Pat Cavanagh) Learning at home….
Reminder From the start of Term 2 until 22 May 2020, all students will be learning from home except for the following: Children of essential workers on days when they are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made. “Essential workers means any worker who must continue to attend their workplace for essential business during this time” If there is a parent at home who is available to supervise their child, students will complete learning and activities in their homes. (This information comes from the Department of Education – Frequently asked questions for parents) (Pat Cavanagh) Parades There will be no formal parades for the foreseeable future BUT look out on Friday for our first attempt at a virtual parade. Mrs. Mackay is very excited about our foray into the high tech world. (Pat Cavanagh) Year 6 Shirts Year 6 shirts will be available on Monday 27 April from the front of the Hall. Please note the times: 9.00am – 6G & 6P: 10.00am – 6M & 6W: 11.00am – 6N & 6Q. These times are for students participating in Learning at Home. Students at school will receive their shirts on Monday afternoon. Only students who have paid will be able to collect their shirt. The shirts look great and I am sure Year 6 will wear them proudly. (Pat Cavanagh) News from 3J Breaking news just in from 3J! Squeaky Pig lives in Mr Cavanagh’s office. He is always on stand-by and if Coolum State School has wet weather play Squeaky Pig oinks into the intercom so he can be heard in every room. Last term he was pig-napped from Mr C’s office and he went around the school. His favourite thing was jumping in the puddles on the oval with some of 3J. He also loved going to Music, PE, Senior Lab and the Library.
