KĀPITI MUSIC CENTRE 2020 The Kāpiti Music Centre teaches groups of children to play, learn, appreciate and perform music Offering quality group lessons at the Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre kmc.org.nz
INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC Ages 5+ Tutor: Yemma Barsanti (Mon)* This course is for young children using singing, dancing, percussion, recorder and games to introduce the basics of music. We use a variety of other percussion instruments. RECORDER Age 6+ Tutor: Yemma Barsanti (Tue)* Two years tuition on the Descant Recorder provides children with a thor- ough grounding in basic music principles of rhythm and notation. We rec- ommend this course before learning a number of other instruments. No previous musical experience is necessary. VIOLIN Age 5+ Tutor: Ann White (Mon, Tues & Thurs)* Learning this beautiful instrument will provide a thorough grounding in music. The Suzuki method of teaching is used. No previous musical experi- ence is necessary. KEYBOARD Age 7+ Tutor: Jill Duncan (Mon & Tues)* This course teaches Classical and Modern styles of music. Students will learn to read music and play in parts with Group lessons are others in the group. Students require a keyboard for practice at home and a music book. One year of recorder is 30 minutes recommended. On PERCUSSION Age 7+ Tutor: Karl Wagener (Mon)* Mondays between 3:45pm—7:00pm Tuesdays between 3:45pm—7:00pm This is a course teaching the theory of music structure and rhythm using a Thursdays between 3:45pm—6:00pm variety of percussion instruments and Cajons.
