Frequently Asked Questions • Project Schedule • The preliminary schedule is to begin May 3. Substantial completion of the majority of the project areas is expected by October. Please keep in mind the schedule can be delayed by weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For more detailed updated information, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND you sign up for the city’s InTouch email notification service to receive critical construction updates throughout this project. No major work will occur during the Woodbury Lions Club Garage Sale. • Will the streets be open during construction? • A drivable surface consisting of existing pavement or gravel will be maintained at all times during the construction. There will be days where street access will be difficult when the contractor is working directly in front of your home.
Frequently Asked Questions • Contractor’s anticipated working hours? • The contractor’s work hours are from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; however, noise ordinance allows work from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. which may occasionally be needed. • Driveway access during project? • You should have access to your property at most times throughout the construction process. However, there may be times when you will not have direct driveway access and may need to park on your street or on an adjacent street (e.g., the contractor is working in front of your home, or if new curb is poured in front of your driveway). You will be notified if new curb will be poured in front of your driveway as you will not be able to drive across it for approximately five to seven days while the concrete cures.
Frequently Asked Questions • Garbage and mail service • Regular garbage/recycling and mail service should be maintained throughout the project. Those companies will be regularly informed of the work being performed. • Assessments • Special assessments have been finalized and will not be changed based on final project costs. City assumes all risk if final costs are higher than initial estimates.
Frequently Asked Questions • Irrigation systems, underground dog fences, and other landscaping features within the city right-of-way • The city right-of-way for residential streets within this project area is generally 60 feet wide. Landscaping, sprinkler systems, underground dog fences, basketball hoops or any other private features that are within the right-of-way may be damaged or require modifications prior to construction starting. On this project, damage is most likely to occur during the removal and replacement of damaged concrete curb and gutter and storm sewer catch basin castings. In both cases, the ground is typically excavated approximately three feet behind the curb into the boulevard. Before construction begins, the project inspector will paint the curb that will be replaced by the contractor. It is then the responsibility of the property owner to determine if any private features are located in the right-of-way and to either remove them from the construction limits or assume the risk of damage and responsibility for repairs. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THE CITY, OR THE CONTRACTOR, REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY PRIVATE FEATURES THAT ARE DAMAGED WITHIN THE CITY RIGHT-OF-WAY. If you have any questions regarding any private features that may be impacted please contact the Project Hotline number - (612) 430-2805.
Frequently Asked Questions • Turf restoration? • Curb replacement, grading, and utility work may result in the disruption of the boulevard adjacent to those locations. Any turf that is removed will be replaced with seed and hydro mulch. The contractor is responsible to warranty the establishment of the seed for 45 days after installation. After the warranty period ends, all future repairs will be the responsibility of the property owner. Watering permits may be requested online or City Hall or Public Works by homeowners if desired. • Will the contractor offer residential driveway repair and replacement? • The contractor for this project will be offering private driveway work. All work must be coordinated directly between homeowner and contractor. The City encourages residents to get multiple quotes for any driveway work. Please contact Hank DaBruzzi at mhdabruzzi@taschifsky.com to receive a quote from the contractor. Contractor will patch any driveway damaged during construction.
Frequently Asked Questions • Pavement Expectations • Minnesota’s weather and temperature ranges will lead to cracks as early as next spring in the new pavement surface. These cracks are normal and expected. The surface will remain in good condition that can be maintained with crack filling.
