Leicester City Takeover 2014, Photo by Paul Carroll “UKYA City Takeover opened my eyes to art more than ever before. It inspired me to think of new ways of presenting my work and how much further I can develop it. I made a lot of new creative friends at the biennale and we all keep in touch now which is amazing. Since UKYA Derby 2016 I’ve collaborated with an artist I met there to make a new piece which we performed at an International Biennale in Tirana. I am so grateful to UKYA for accepting my craft, spending an intense weekend with so many talented artists and absorbing their creativity was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever experienced.“ - Jamal Sterrett, Dancer, Derby 2016
