In 1997, more than a million men assembled at the National Mall of Washington, D.C. Media outlets across the nation took notice as men gathered publicly to pray for their families, their communities, and their country. Those men represented the grassroots of Promise Keepers, an organization then led by Coach Bill McCartney, that had previously filled America’s sports stadiums with over 7,000,000 men in prayer and worship gatherings. For two decades, Promise Keepers has called men to keep the 7 Promises of brotherhood, virtue, and honor. Now, with God’s help, we are doing it again. PERSONAL TESTIMONY “I felt led to attend PK in 1995 and there found a deeper relationship with my God than I had ever known. I cried, I was broken and I saw the depth of my sin and selfishness. I recommitted my life to the Lord, my wife and my family. On the brink of divorce, God reconciled my marriage... I decided to live a life of Christian integrity so my children had a father they could look up to. As my children have grown, married and started their own families, I am proud to say that they and their families have a relationship with Jesus that is more than mere words and actions. Thank you, PK for coming back to the roots where we started. Let’s reach this next generation of men for God so that they too can know the peace that comes from a right relationship with Him, with family, and with friends. The ills that our country faces—anger, violence, hatred can all be overcome by the grace of God.” - R.S. READ MORE PK TESTIMONIALS AT PROMISEKEEPERS.ORG/PROMISE-KEEPERS/OUR-IMPACT
A note from Ken Harrison, Promise Keepers’ Chairman Promise Keepers events had such a massively transformative effect on men. The stories we get to hear every day of men coming home completely changed brings tears to our eyes. Men who went to Promise Keepers as alcoholics, workaholics, abusers, sex addicts, tantrum throwers or filled with greed came home as humble, Spirit-filled men of God. We’ve been blessed to hear from so many wives and children of PK BY THE those men about how grateful they were for the man that came home from PK. That part won’t change. The part that will change is that Promise Keepers will now NUMBERS have the apparatus, thanks to technology, to disciple men in partnership with their local church. Too many men left a PK 2,368,000 event in the ‘90s on a high but with little ability for follow-up. Facebook Impressions, last three months Through the platform we’re building, Promise Keepers will be able to get sound biblical teaching to men, line them up with 28,000 100,000 churches and men’s ministries, and form them into teams where they’ll have true friends and mentorship. THE PK PLAN America needs a revival. Especially in these trying times, our nation’s men are experiencing deep problems: loneliness, isolation, broken marriages, pornography addiction, just to name a few. America’s men need both radical revival and the ongoing support of brothers. Promise Keepers is reigniting to reach a new generation through a series of timely resources and events. In the summer of 2020, we are hosting a global digital gathering for men. We are projecting 1,000,000 men spanning multiple generations. We expect fathers and sons to attend—both virtually from home as well as through simulcasts at key locations across the country. World-renowned speakers, teachers, and worship artists will headline the event, including pastors Tony Evans and John Gray, musicians Michael W. Smith, and Danny Gokey. The event has already received national media coverage, including the Huckabee Show, Fox News, the Blaze, Dr. Dobson’s Family Talk, and numerous other outlets. We are launching a community app. In the 1990’s, Promise Keepers’ men struggled to maintain connection with each other after events. Now, our new app will allow men to connect, find discipleship resources, and coordinate in their local communities. Our stadium events will relaunch in summer of 2021, starting at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Now is the time to move on behalf of America’s men. We Need Your Help We are working hard to make Promise Keepers events accessible to all—and that means our virtual events and simulcasts are available to attendees free of charge. Promise Keepers’ staff is also actively working on strategic efforts to expand Promise Keepers to younger generations, and to support and empower churches in their local men’s ministries. To make this work possible, we need your support. We are grateful for financial contributions. To give online, visit promisekeepers.org and select “donate” from the navigation menu.
