2021 Gettin’ in the Game℠ Junior National Championship (JNC) CSL Behring has just announced the 2021 Gettin’ in the GameSM Junior National Championship (JNC) to be held November – 5 - 7, 2021 at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, Phoenix, Arizona. Bleeding Disorder Chapters throughout the United States are invited to participate by nominating two individuals from their Chapter to attend the event. During the program, participants will take part in either golf, baseball, or (swimming- not this year) activities and clinics to learn the fundamentals and enhance their skills in that sport. They will learn about the importance of physical fitness in managing a bleeding disorder and receive instructions on proper stretching techniques and good athletic form. They will show off their baseball, golf and (swimming) abilities in a national competition with fellow participants from around the country. More importantly, they will connect and build relationships with fellow members of the bleeding disorder community by sharing their personal experiences with one another. Individuals interested in being nominated for the program by Bleeding Disorders Association of South Carolina should complete the application below. Applications are due to BDASC by Wednesday August 18, 2021. Winners will be notified soon after the deadline date. We encourage all eligible participants to apply even if you have participated before. We would be happy to have you talk with individuals who have participated in the past years should you need additional information. GOOD LUCK!! Reminders: (This year 2021 due to COVID 19) - Nominees must be 12-18 years of age and have a confirmed bleeding disorder to participate - Chapters can nominate up to two participants for their area to participate in either golf or baseball. - Each participant must be accompanied by one adult (parent or caregiver) - The selection of the participants is the sole responsibility of each Chapter. CSL Behring will have no involvement in the participant selection process. - CSL Behring will sponsor each Chapter-selected nominee and one accompanying adult to participate in the program. This sponsorship is free to participants and will include the coordination and cost of airfare, ground transportation in the program city and hotel arrangements (attendees will be responsible for transportation to and from their hometown airport). Scheduled meals will be provided on site.
We all have a role to play in the mitigation of risk at the 2021 CSL Behring Junior National Championship event. Please read the entire packet located on BDASC Website event page! CSL Behring’s primary concern is for the health and welfare of attendees, both the child with a bleeding disorder, and the parent or caregiver attending with the child. Because CSL Behring is concerned about ALL attendees, we have set standards for participation in the 2021 JNC. We understand if certain members of your chapter cannot or will not agree to comply with these precautions, and if that is the case, we ask that you not nominate them to attend JNC this year. CSL Behring will monitor participants’ compliance with these safety protocols, and to protect others’ safety, we will ask participants to leave the event if they do not comply. If parents and children arrive at the event and do not follow these standards, they will be asked to leave the event to protect the safety of others. While CSL Behring cannot guarantee that no attendee will be exposed to Covid or a variant, we are asking for cooperation in making the event as successful and as safe as possible. Therefore, the following precautions are mandatory: We require that the parent/caregiver who accompanies a child to the event, be vaccinated. All adults attending the event (no other family members are permitted to attend) must show proof of vaccination (vaccination card) to event organizers at least two weeks prior to the event. We strongly encourage that all children participating in the event be vaccinated. Children and the attending parents/caregivers must agree to complete a Covid Health Survey 14 days before the event and again, 3 days before travelling to the event. If they attest, in writing, that they have a medical reason or religious belief that precludes them from being vaccinated, we ask that they fully mask (mask over mouth and nose) during the entire event except when eating and in your hotel room. If you have questions or concerns about the precautions listed above, please reach out to Carol Padgett at 908-473-9042 prior to travelling to the event.
