AKDENIZ UNIVERSITY Akdeniz University was founded in Antalya in 1982, and provides education and training leading to internationally recognised qualifications in 23 Faculties, 7 Graduate Schools, 4 Schools, 12 Vocational Schools and 1 Conservatory which together provide 457 separate programmes at the level of associate degree, master's degree, doctorate degree, as well as specialisation in medicine, for around 70,000 students. Akdeniz University attaches the highest importance to internationalization within the changing environment demanded by growing globalisation. Within this context, Akdeniz University aims to develop an internationalization strategy and approach which is appropriate for the provision of education, training, research and service in a systematic way, which will increase the quality of work that we deliver in these fields, and which will in turn strengthen both our regional and global position. Within the framework of its internalization strategy, Akdeniz University provides valuable international education opportunities for its students through participation in the European Union Education and Youth Programmes (Erasmus+ Programme), the Bologna Process, the Mevlana and Farabi Exchange Programmes, as well as the IAESTE Programme and bilateral cooperation activities.

AKDENIZ UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE International Relations Office (IRO) was established to make the best contribution to the internationalisation strategy of Akdeniz University, enabling the effective and sustainable implementation of our internationalization strategies in a way which takes into account the new conditions which have been introduced into the higher education system in the field of internationalization. The IRO is responsible for European Union Education and Youth Programmes, (Erasmus+ Programme), the Bologna Process, the Mevlana and Farabi Exchange Programmes and IAESTE, as well as international cooperation activities with universities abroad and the coordination of international students, and the international activities of the university. The IRO also takes care of services such as the “Eurodesk” Contact Point, which was created as a European Knowledge Transfer Network which can provide information to young people about European opportunities in the education and youth area, and how they can benefit from these opportunities.

As a part of the online application, incoming exchange students will submit their tentative learning agreements with their course selections. Courses offered are subject to change. Final course registration will take place in the beginning of each semester, during the course registration period and add/drop period stated on the academic calendar. Students are obliged to complete the necessary paperwork and receive approvals within thegiven deadlines. Course Load The regular course load in the Fall and Spring semesters is 30 ECTS credits. If students need to take more credit additional approvals may be required. Add/Drop Period Students finalize their Learning Agreements during the first two weeks. Add/Drop period is 21 - 27 September 2018 for Fall semester and 1 - 7 February2019 for Spring semester. Exams End-of-semester examinations are administered during the examination period as announced on the academic calendar. No special early exams can be arranged for the incoming exchange students. Grading A student's course performance is evaluated by the relevant course instructor based on mid- term examinations and assignments, as well as attendance, if applicable, and the results of the end-of-semester examinations. For every course taken by a student, the relevant course instructor assigns a grade to the student within the announced dates on the academic calendar. We use the ECTS credit system and the grading system is standard American letter grade. The minimum passing grade is 'D'. Grade F indicates thatthestudent failedthecourse.
Learning Expectations Students are required to attend all courses, applied exercises, laboratory sessions, projects, examinations and other related academic activities for which they are registered. The effect of attendance on the grade calculation shall be announced by the instructor at the beginning of the semester. Transcripts Akdeniz University issues ECTS Transcripts automatically to all incoming Erasmus exchange students. Non-Erasmus exchange students are issued transcripts in English. They are sent to partner institution International Offices/Study Abroad Offices directly within 5 weeks after the grading period. However, there are a variety of apart hotels and private dormitories around the campus. It is also possible for students to rent flats. Academic Expenses No tuition fees for exchange students. Students are responsible of purchasing their text books and covering their personal expenses.
Health Related Health services for both the staff and students of Akdeniz University are provided at an outpatient clinic in the Medico-Social Centre. From there they may be transferred to other health institutions for further examination and treatment if necessary. The costs of medication and treatment for students who have no social insurance provision for either themselves or family members (spouse or parents) are covered by the special budget by way of medical reports issued by the Health, Culture and Sports Directorate. Psychological Consultancy and Guidance The primary aim of the Psychological Counselling and Guidance Unit is to protect the mental health of students and personnel by means of individual psychotherapy. Psychological Consultation and Guidance Services are undertaken by psychiatrists, psychologists and social services experts. Psychotherapy treatments can help individuals to feel more able to achieve their goals in life by enabling them to take the control of their emotions, thoughts and actions. The objective is to allow individuals to get to know themselves better, to decrease psychological stress if it is present, to eliminate behavioral disorders, and to enable the positive growth and development of personality.
Visa Requirements Please check with the nearest Turkish Embassy/Consulate or on the internet 8 http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa whether you are required a student visa or not. Incoming exchange students may be required to obtain a student visa for the duration of their academic stay in Turkey. In such a case, after receiving the Acceptance Letter from Akdeniz University, exchange students should apply directly in person at the local Turkish Embassy or Consulate for a student visa. Please be advised that the visa process may take 6-8 weeks. Students, who need student visa, can inform our office and receive their acceptance and support letters from our office.
