They have been trained and assessed through the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association, and operate to the high standards and guidelines set out by the association. TERRAIN We operate this trip in the Remarkables Mountain Based in the stunning Queenstown Lakes region. The range is home to a wide selection of world-class rock, ice and mixed routes, all within close proximity and easy access from town. EQUIPMENT While winter climbing in the New Zealand mountains requires good personal gear due to the potential cold weather conditions, your regular mountaineering or ski clothing, bulked up with some extra warm layers will normally suffice. We will provide group technical equipment as well as avalanche safety equipment, transceiver, probe and Fine tune technical climbing skills. Photo: Dean Staples shovel. You will need to come prepared with your own personal clothing and equipment. We have a range of climbing equipment and clothing available at our office in Wanaka, please ensure you advise your requirements prior to your course. TRAVEL For trips originating in Queenstown, your guide will meet you at 8.30am at the base of the Remarkables Ski Field Road. Our Wanaka based trips begin at 8.00am from our office. Please contact us if you have any difficulties with transport and we can liaise with you about an appropriate pick up time from your accommodation. Skills based on your goals and interests. There are also direct flights from most major Australian cities.
