Avon Parks & Recreation: Basketball 2020 Introduction Avon Parks & Recreation Phone Number: 440-937-6106 Email: parksinfo@cityofavon.com Office Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Game Location Avon High School: 37545 Detroit Road Practice Location-Coach picks practice time/location Avon Early Learning Center: 3075 Stoney Ridge Road Avon East Elementary: 3100 Nagel Road Avon Heritage Elementary: South Gym: 35600 Bentley Drive North Gym: 35575 Detroit Rd. *Please note your practice location. Practices are 50 minutes . **When the schools are closed for holidays or inclement weather, practices are canceled; NO SCHOOL=NO PRACTICE** Important Dates Practices: Begin the week of Jan. 10th and end the week of March 7th First Game: Sunday, Jan. 23rd Last Game: Grades 3-8 Sunday, March 13; High School Saturday, March 12 Girls 5/6 Grade Only: Game days vary We’re looking forward to a safe and FUN season! ☺ 1
Parent Code of Ethics The emphasis of this program is to encourage teamwork, learn the game, respect for others, and FUN. •As a parent, I will provide positive support, care, and encouragement. •I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support to my child, other players, coaches, and officials. •I will teach my child that winning is not the only goal of a sports game and that teamwork, friendship, and fun are also important goals. •I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with respect. •I will be good role model for my child and other children in the program. •I will respect and value my child’s volunteer coach(es) and officials and understand their importance to the development of my child and the program. •I will not engage in negative discussions with any game official, coach, players, parent, or spectators before, during, or after the game. •I will communicate with my child’s coach(s) respectfully.
Basketball 2022 – Activity Procedures Health & Safety Procedures Avon Parks and Rec Basketball 2022- Health and Safety Protocols ** Please be advised that Health and Safety Protocols are subject to change** The health and well-being of your children, our staff, and the community is our top priority! These procedures are in place to keep everyone safe! All activities involve some risk. In order to reduce the risk, the following guidelines have been put in place. Please review these guidelines with your children before the program begins. Thank you – looking forward to some FUN! PLAYERS: ❑ Perform a symptom self-assessment (i.e. coughing, shortness of breath, fever, etc.) before arriving at activity. Please do not send your child to a practice/game if anyone in your household is sick ❑ Masks are REQUIRED when players are not on court actively playing (i.e. entering/exiting gym; team benches) ❑ Please wash/sanitize hands… • Upon arrival • After using the bathroom • After contact with bodily fluids (i.e. coughing, sneezing, etc.) • Prior to departure ❑ We ask that each player bring a backpack/cinch bag to keep water bottle & other personal equipment ❑ Players must wear Avon Parks & Rec. issued shirt for games ❑ For the safety of the players NO EARRINGS OR JEWELRY are permitted when playing (No taping of earrings) ❑ Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early and exit gym immediately after your practice/game ❑ No congregating! COACHES: ❑ Masks are REQUIRED at all practices/ games ❑ Please wash/sanitize hands… • Upon arrival • After using the bathroom • After contact with bodily fluids (i.e. coughing, sneezing, etc.) • Prior to departure ❑ Social distancing during the program is very important. Please have a conversation with your team/child about social distancing during practices/games ❑ Handshakes/high fives/etc. are not permitted PARENTS/SPECTATORS: ❑ No spectators at practices ❑ Masks are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED & APPRECIATED for all spectators ❑ Only TWO (2) spectators per player for games ❑ Please social distance from other groups Updated: 12/3/21 7
