NORTH PARISH POSTAL ADDRESS PO Box 20146, Bishopdale, Christchurch 8543 PHONE NUMBER - (03) 359 1438 WEBSITE - https://christchurchnorth.org.nz/ During our Easter Season, we continue to journey through the book of the Acts of the Apostles. Our first reading tells us that the disciples had been very effective evangelists, so much so that they were told not to speak of the Christ. This was because the preaching of the word was so effective and so many Jews were coming to know Christ and joining the church and its beginning. In the book of the Acopalypse (our second reading) we see the full vision You are never too far of what heaven is for those who believe, what a powerful vision of all from God to come home those people around God’s throne worshiping him adoring God. This is a scene of such grace joy and hope. In our Gospel, we have an encounter that has a Eucharistic motif. Just as the apostles came to Christ around a meal, we come to Christ by gathering round the Eucharistic celebration of the Mass - the Divine Meal. Not only does the Mass help us maintain a relationship with Him, but it sustains our lives here on earth while anticipating the participation in God's heavenly vision. Just as Jesus invited the apostles to partake, we are also invited to partake in his banquet. This invitation to share in the God's heavenly vision through the Eucharistic celebration of the Mass is for all people. However, we know that there are many people in our communities, in our families, in our parish who are no longer participating in the life of the Church - who were once practicing Catholics; who once called the Catholic Church their home. I ask that you consider inviting them to 'Catholics Returning Home.' This begins on Tuesday 3 May, 7:30pm at St Joseph's Pastoral Centre. For more information, and to register, please visit https://www.christchurchnorth.org.nz/catholics-returning-home Please keep this in your prayers. God Bless, Brendan Woodnutt Evangilisation Coordinator 3rd Sunday of Easter: Acts of the Apostles 13: 14. 43-521 / Apocalypse 7:9.14 - 17 / John 10:27 -30
