Thanks to the organisers of the Inaugural Easter Cotton Tail Run. What a great weekend it was with 22 entrants and a mixed bag of vehicles in attendance ranging from the very old 1907 Star Roadstar to the more modern 2017 Mini Cooper Seven Edition. The weekend started off on Saturday morning with a Show and Shine where we were able to vote on four categories with the winners being: Voted by Public and Entrants: Best Presented: Brett Nosse - 1965 VW Sedan "Herbie" Best Presented: Runner Up - Ron Beeson VB Commodore Voted by Entrants: Vehicle I would most like to take for a spin: Keith and Ann Bartley 1907 Star Roadster Nicest Floor Mats: Equal winners Des and Donna Sutton 1960 Holden FB Ute and Paul Friend 1981 Honda XL 500 Motor Cycle! Best Interior: Tony Worthington HR Holden Saturday afternoon took us on a run to the Weir and then out to Beardmore Dam. Some of us didn’t linger for too long as the midges and sand flies were out in force. We all met up again on Sunday morning for a run to Thallon testing us along the way with an observation run. Congratulations to the winner Dee Powell who had the task of driving as well as answering the questions without a navigator! It was a spectacular site to see the cars lined up in front of the silos. We then headed back to the Nindigully Pub for a relaxed lunch with presentations made to the competition winners. Along with those already mentioned there was also a category for the Oldest Vehicle which went to Keith and Ann Bartley in their 1907 Star Roadster and the Longest Distance Travelled which went to Michael Tipman who drove his 1961 EK Holden from Bundaberg. Leaving Nindigully some of us choose to follow Tony Worthington to the Cotton farm where he has worked at for a number of years. An unexpected but pleasant surprise especially for the kids, big and small getting to see a Cotton Picker up close. The weekend finished off with a BBQ at the Pelican Rest Caravan Park with an interesting talk by local Robert Buchan. We look forward to the next Cotton Tail Run!
