Step 11 Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Tradition 11 Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films. Concept 11 The Conference shall observe the spirit of A.A. tradition, taking care that it never becomes the seat of perilous wealth or power; that sufficient operating funds and reserve be its prudent financial principle; that it place none of its members in a position of unqualified authority over others; that it reach all important decisions by discussion, vote, and whenever possible, substantial unanimity; that its actions never be personally punitive nor an incitement to public controversy; that it never perform acts of government; that, like the Society it serves, it will always remain democratic in thought and action.
Results from the Area Election Thanks to everyone who attended – and cast your ballot – at the Area 43 Election Assembly. On Tuesday, October 26th, operators at our new answering service, TeleDirect, began fielding Hotline calls. A collective exhaling of breath here in New Hampshire AA. And…it’s going just fine Will there be wrinkles? Of course! Will there be a learning curve? You bet! The good news is that our new vendor is very responsive and our account manager has done amazing work getting us up and running. Don’t confuse this with an insurance ad…but we feel we are in good hands. I was reflecting that we owe tremendous thanks to Steve D. When he was Hotline Chair, he sounded the alarm that our Hotline wasn’t working very well. That was 18 months ago, and it has taken a lot of work to get us to this moment. The number of AA members who have played a part in this transition are too many to name – but the work has been anchored by the Ad Hoc Committee on the Hotline, and now by the Area 43 Hotline Committee, helped along by the resource- guide-publishing skills of Gina B. and some top-notch technical assistance from Dan L. The biggest take-away from this 18-month journey: There are many dedicated folks in Area 43 laser focused on carrying our message of hope to the still suffering alcoholic. Thank you! I don’t go anywhere where I can’t take my higher power. 12 steps are job training to sponsor people. Each month, Pipeline will highlight a different standing committee. Coming next month...Young People's! Spotlight on Webmaster The webmaster position is appointed by the Technology Chair and serves on the Technology Committee. If you are a member of AA, you have likely visited NHAA.net on at least a few occasions. Perhaps you came to look up a meeting location, change group info, learn about upcoming events or buy something from the Area Service Office. You may have also made a digital contribution to the Area or wanted a printout of the prayers or promises we often use in AA meetings. Whatever the reason, the primary purpose of our public website is to help the newcomer and those that want to stop drinking. On average, we get over 11,000 unique visitors to our website. The top pages they are looking at are Meetings, Homepage, Prayers & Promises & the Online Store. With that said, our website is only as useful as the content that is provided. Therefore, it's crucial that each meeting ensure that their information is correct. We recently had some folks complain that they showed up to an in-person meeting and the doors were locked because meeting info was out-of-date. Eeek! That's defeating our primary purpose. It's also important to promote meeting, District and Area events. Have your GSR or DCM submit events, or you can always send them to webmaster@nhaa.net. During COVID-19, the meeting listings changed on a nearly daily basis and our members relied on the website to get up-to- date information. A lot of people got sober virtually during a global pandemic because they were able to readily access that information online. From a personal standpoint, I've enjoyed being the Web Ninja. I know that
the work I do is having a huge impact on those that are trying to get and stay sober and it helps my sobriety by being of service to my fellows. Thank you for allowing me to be of service to each of you. Again, if you have comments or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to webmaster@nhaa.net. Cheers, Jordan K. Our Singleness Of Purpose There are those who predict that A.A. may well become a new spearhead for a spiritual awakening throughout the world. When our friends say these things, they are both generous and sincere. But we of A.A. must reflect that such a tribute and such a prophecy could well prove to be a heady drink for most of us- that is, if we really came to believe this to be the real purpose of A.A., and if we commenced to behave accordingly. Our Society, therefore, will prudently cleave to its single purpose: the carrying of the message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Let us resist the proud assumption that since God has enabled us to do well in one area we are destined to be a channel of saving grace for everybody. (A.A.® Comes of Age, p. 232) Are you or anyone you know celebrating 50 years or more of continuous sobriety? Send Pipeline the name and District and we will post it here! Are you passionate about a subject or condition in AA? Gender neutrality in our literature? A 5th Edition of the Big Book? Updating personal stories? Safety in AA? 13 stepping? Returning The Doctor's Opinion back to page one? Send us your thoughts and Pipeline will publish it! pipeline@nhaa.net
