   MyMaths Note
Please make sure that your child accesses the tasks and activities first when logging onto MyMaths. This is the
homework that has been set by the class teacher weekly and it is these activities which are monitored by them. We
encourage you to play the maths games to support your learning that are available on MyMaths, but the school is
unable to access how much time you spend doing this.
Many thanks for your continued support.

Science https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhn6dp3

Using the link above, learn all about the human body and
               our senses.

               This guide contains:

           • - eight videos about your body and senses

Once you have watched the videos complete the activities
               below.

Activity 1. Ask another member of your household to stand still and see how many body
               parts you can name.

You could make your own labels out of pieces of paper and stick them on to the correct
               body part!

Can you name 10 different parts of the body?

Activity 2. Complete the “What are the parts of the human body?” quiz. (Found after the
               first video)

Activity 3. Complete “What are the senses?” quiz (found at the bottom of the page.)
Art & DT Shadow drawing.
This activity can be completed inside using a lamp or
               outside using the sun.
Place an object on to your piece of paper and trace round
               the out line.
If you have any chalks you could also trace the outlines
               straight onto your path.
Have fun and be creative. Can you create a whole
               shadow picture?
Drama Stone Age – Imagine you are from the stone age and have never seen most of the things
that exist today in the modern world. Travel in your time capsule any way you like, make it
as exciting as you want. When you open the door you see lots of things that you have
never seen before. Think about what your facial expression is like when you see the
following things and when you go over to them and pick them up to inspect them for the
first time. A radio, a newspaper, a hamburger, a dress. How will you pick these items up?
What does your face do when the radio suddenly turns on? When the newspaper falls
apart and when you taste the hamburger.

Music Encourage your child to listen to Lean On Me, a Soul/Gospel song by Bill Withers. Do they
like it? What instruments can they hear? Can they clap a rhythm? Learn to sing the lyrics
and have a go at performing the song. Perhaps your child would like to research this
famous artist in more detail and listen to more of his songs, creating an artist profile
complete with portrait sketch. Perhaps they could perform the song to a family member?

WARNING! – This Experiment MUST be done
            Outside!

            What you need?
        • A 2 litre bottle of fizzy drink (any will do!)

        • Mentos (this brand really does do the job best)

        • A cardboard toilet toll
Year 3 home working book - West Town Primary
• Pen, Scissors & Sellotape

STEP1 – First we need to make a mentos dropper!
          • Cut the toilet roll (or other card) so it can be rolled
round into a tube that’s just a bit wider than a
              mento!

          • Sellotape the tube together
          • Push a pen/ pencil through the tube – that’s the firing
              pin

          • Fill the tube from the top with mentos (6 is perfect!)

STEP2 – Take your dropper (loaded with mentos) and
lemonade to an outdoor space where you can make a
              mess
              STEP3 – Make sure you’re OUTSIDE, have a final
check...attach the tube to the bottle and then pull the
pen back – This will explode into a messy fountain so
              quickly get well back!
