Especially in these challenging times, patients rely on healthcare professionals (HCPs) to advise them about important measures to protect their health—and an HCP recommendation is the strongest predictor of whether adults get vaccinated. Laboratory confirmed flu activity as reported by clinical laboratories remains low. Influenza-like illness activity continues to decrease and is below the national baseline. The percent of deaths due to pneumonia or influenza (P&I) is decreasing but remains elevated, primarily due to COVID-19, not influenza. Reported pediatric flu deaths for the season are high at 174. The outbreak declared in January shows a declining trend. A total of 21 health districts attained epidemic threshold. Immunization coverage for 2 – 59 months of age is 97% overall, but four districts did not attain the 95% goal. o DRC – Ebola Virus Disease (3,462 cases; 2,279 deaths; CFR 66%). There have been no confirmed cases since May 2. Since the resurgence on April 10, seven confirmed cases have been recorded in Beni Health Zone (with four deaths).
