Rehabilitation also includes: • Extension of median left turn lanes at various locations to reduce rear- end collisions. • Closing of median openings west of 91st, west of 70th St, and east of 60th St. due to their close proximity to high volume intersections and imposed safety concerns. • Improved median turning at 72nd St. and 70th St. due to high crash area.
City of Milwaukee Bioswales 2 new bioswales to improve stormwater management
Village of Brown Deer Streetscaping To improve corridor aesthetics
Village Streetscaping West of 68th Street to Arbon Dr. • Colored concrete intersections at Park Plaza Ct., 60th and 51st Sts. • Raised planter and perennial, shrub and tree planting beds. • Decorative colored concrete accents in the median.
Construction Staging Wis100 will remain open to traffic during construction • 2 lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions during weekday AM & PM peak rush periods. • Traffic reduced to 1 lane in each direction mid-day, evening and over the weekends. • Median left turning will be restricted where construction is occurring.
Driveway access Contractor to keep driveway access open at all times • When work is required at your driveway, the contractor will work on it half at a time to keep access open to your driveway. • Since working on the driveway half at a time will require a longer time period of disruption, please consider if alternate access is available or parking on a side street is an option, allowing the contractor to close your driveway. This allows them to complete the work needed in a shorter period of time and facilitates opening it to full operation sooner and minimizing disruption.
Local Road Closures Colored concrete intersections for streetscaping at Park Plaza Ct./66th, 60th St. and 51st St. • During the colored concrete paving at these intersections, the side road access to WIS100 will be closed for a 7 day period to allow for proper concrete curing. • Early strength concrete will be used to reduce closure time. • Advanced warning of the local street closure will be provided. • Side road closures will only be allowed one at a time to limit disruption on alternate routes.
Construction Timeframe 2021 • Construction expected to start April 1, 2021 • Construction expected to be completed by Nov. 1, 2021 • There will be a slight overlap with construction schedules as the next project on Brown Deer Rd. (east of Arbon Dr.) will begin in Sept. 2021. • Pavement rehabilitation is expected to last 15-20 years.
