Wiltshire Rugby World Cup engagement events 2015 Join in with our rugby themed events taking place across Wiltshire as the nation prepares to celebrate the Rugby World Cup 2015
The eighth Rugby World Cup (RWC) takes place between 18 September – 31 October 2015, with matches at 13 venues across 11 host cities in England and Wales. Wiltshire Council has supported local rugby clubs in Wiltshire to celebrate the RWC taking place in 2015 by developing an exciting programme of events and activities for local communities. These will encourage new players of all ages and abilities to take up the sport, to give the game a try, to raise awareness of rugby this year and be part of the celebrations during rugby's biggest year. The activities will include high quality coaching sessions, development camps, social events and participation opportunities, to inspire the next generation of players.

Bradford-on-Avon RFC Primary schools festival of rugby Get involved Bradford-on-Avon RFC has invited all local primary schools to take part in a festival of rugby during the Rugby World Cup 2015. Each school will be given one of the RWC countries to support throughout the day and they will design their country’s flag. All players will take part in tag rugby games and learn new skills. Calne Rugby Community fun day Get involved Calne Rugby will be holding a community fun day for local people. It is to promote both junior and senior playing opportunities, and for those looking to learn the game of rugby or for those returning to the sport. The event will also include a bouncy castle, BBQ and rugby competitions open to all the family. Chippenham RFC October half term rugby camp Get involved Chippenham RFC is holding a half term rugby camp to engage local young people and celebrate the Rugby World Cup. The camp will include basic core skills, fun activities and competitions. The young people will be able to learn new skills and develop existing ones. Corsham RFC October half term rugby camp Get involved Corsham RFC will engage local young people and celebrate the Rugby World Cup by delivering a rugby camp in October half term. The camp will include basic core skills through touch rugby games and game based activities with the introduction of competitive team games. Devizes RFC Celebration touch tournament Get involved Devizes RFC will encourage new or returning players to attend a fun touch tournament, to increase awareness of the sport, through playing, volunteering and social opportunities for all ages. Players can access the club’s facilities, while the 1st XV squad, the flagship of the club, play a league fixture to conclude the day. Marlborough RFC Rugby camp Get involved Marlborough RFC will encourage new junior players to the club by delivering a rugby camp, which will include all aspects of playing the game, a basic introduction and technical skills to increase their enjoyment of rugby. Players can access the club’s facilities, watch the senior team play a league fixture, and enjoy the screening of the RWC England v Wales match to conclude the day. Minety RFC Family touch/TAG challenge Get involved Get involved Minety RFC offer the opportunity for parents / carers to play alongside their children of all ages and encourage both junior and senior players to attend two family Touch and TAG challenge events, coinciding with Rugby World Cup matches. The players will participate in various games and activities alongside their parents, and raise awareness of the sport through playing, volunteering, coaching and refereeing. The challenge will be followed by a BBQ and the screening of a Rugby World Cup match. Salisbury RFC Mini World Cup competition Get involved Salisbury RFC has invited all local primary schools to take part in a mini World Cup competition prior to the start of the Rugby World Cup 2015. Each school will be given one of the 20 participating countries for them to support and represent through the day, and all players will take part in tag rugby games and learn new skills.
