CHAIRMAN’S FOREWORD Dear members, 2020 was a difficult year for all of us. Sadly, due to COVID restrictions most of the Rallies that were organised had to be cancelled. A program for 2021 has been arranged, and I’m sure that we would all love to escape lockdown and start to utilise our caravans. The website has been updated with brief details of the proposed rallies, but until the Government allows leisure activities to commence, we are unable to proceed. So as soon as lockdown is released check the website to see what can go ahead. We are still looking for stewards for most of the rallies, and I know it’s difficult to commit to running one at this stage but bear it in mind should we be allowed to go ahead. Here is hoping to see you out in 2021. David Hawksford PAST WEST WARWICKSHIRE CHAIRMEN G.T.S.Clarke 1968-1973 G. WHAT TO EXPECT ON A RALLY.
If you have never been on a rally before, the West Warwickshire Centre would be very happy to welcome you to any of the rallies listed in this rally book. Our rallies are simply a gathering of Caravan Club members for a weekend or so to promote friendship and pursue the many pleasures of caravanning. The rally stewards are just ordinary people who have volunteered their time to organise and run the rally. Their duties include liaising with landowner, signing the approach to the rally, managing facilities for water, waste water and elsan disposal. Often, they may arrange a programme for the entertainment of those on the rally – a quiz, a ramble or a social, maybe a BBQ. Although you should never be obliged to join in anything that does not interest you. In addition to the items you usually take to a commercial site, you also need to provide your own sanitation and a water container to fill it (toilets must NEVER be taken to the drinking tap as this is a serious health risk). You will also need a waste bag to take away your dry waste. Also, simple wedges to level your caravan may be useful. To book into a rally send your details using the ‘Book Now’ button or Mobile phone number (Preferably text) to the stewards as listed in the rally book. Giving at least 7 days’ notice. For prepaid rallies book as above and the Stewards will advise where to send payment. When you get to a rally, follow the directions as detailed for the rally in this Rally Book. As you near the site watch for rally signs which have black WWCC lettering and direction arrows on an Orange background. When you arrive at the site please book in with the Stewards (Rally Officer) and let them know this is your first rally. They will give you details for water and waste facilities etc. and direct you to your pitch. Towards the end of the rally there is a “Flag Meeting” where the ralliers gather to hear the results of any competitions, centre news, and extend their thanks to all who have contributed to the rally. Please come along to a rally – you will be made to feel welcome and hopefully the experience will open up a new branch of caravanning for you to enjoy in the future. If you are in any doubt or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate steward or any Committee Member who will be happy to answer any question you may have. We look forward to seeing you on the rally field.
