In our Region Ministry As with all our weeks and months of late, mine was yet again dominated by COVID. My daughter Addison wasn’t well enough to go to school and as it was a runny nose, she had to be covid tested before she could return to school. I cannot tell you how impressed I was at the Northern Beaches “Drive Thru” Testing Clinic. You drive up to the clinic, which has free parking, give your name and mobile, return to your car to wait for a call. Once you get the call, you go and have your test done (this was the toughest part), the whole process took no more than 30 minutes. They text you your result within in 3-5 days (Addison’s results came back the next day) and I am pleased to say negative!!! We felt it would be negative, but you can never be too sure. I have to say I was so impressed with how fast and easy the process was, if you are showing any symptoms, even mild do not take any chances head up to the Northern Beaches Hospital. Steph Covid Updates As restrictions ease, doors open, and we emerge from our isolation into what feels like a new way of life. We all need to adjust to how we interact with each other as we slowly return to life with social distancing. Our church lives are caught up in this new reality and it will require a huge amount of work from us all to move through to the next phase. We thought it would beneficial to let you know what has been taking place behind the scenes to restart NBUC. ….. COVID Safety Plans (CSP) As restrictions ease, doors open, people emerge it does look as though we can just pick up where we left everything back in March but reopening our doors to worship and hall hire activities comes with strict conditions, this is to keep our community safe and healthy. Our Ministers, Mission Teams, Safe Church Committee and Church Council have all been working hard putting together Covid Safety Plans to ensure our site is safe, covid clean and will stay safe for both our members and those who hire our facilities. We will keep you updated on our COVID Safety Plan (CSP) progress, this week has been spent coordinating cleaners’ quotes and ensuring they are meeting Government standards. Measuring all sites, so we are aware of how many are allowed onsite at any one time and putting all relevant information into each sites’ CSP, along with each individual activity that takes place in our facilities. Geoff Leslie, the Presbytery’s Business Manager along with Max Blacker have been working long hours attending to countless questions, sorting through Government and Synod regulations and restrictions and guiding all of us with our CSP, they have done and are continuing to do an amazing job. We thank you for your patience as we are aware you are all wanting to know WHEN OUR DOORS WILL OPEN AGAIN.
