Gold Coast Holiday Dollars launched

The fourth phase of Queensland's Holiday Dollars program is going live with travel
vouchers to explore the Gold Coast up for grabs next week.

Another 30,000 travel vouchers for Queenslanders, this time to stay and explore the
Gold Coast, are on offer and can be used for a range of experiences from the region's
whale watching tours and theme parks to its accommodation offerings and everything
in between.

The Gold Coast campaign is designed to support local tourism operators and drive
visitation during a key shoulder period. Gold Coast operators have until 21 July
to register to participate in the Holiday Dollars campaign.

As the Gold Coast Holiday Dollars campaign begins, the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef
and Whitsundays campaigns are continuing with their respective booking and
redemption phases finishing at the end of June, while the Brisbane campaign travel
period continues until 15 August.

Queensland on show

As we reach mid-year, TEQ continues to work with industry to showcase the many
visitor experiences across the state to potential travellers and trade partners. This week
and into the next, this will occur through a few high-profile events.

TEQ is currently hosting a Queensland stand at the biggest caravanning event in
Queensland - the Let's Go Queensland Caravan and Camping Show - from 2 to 7 June
in Brisbane. TEQ will join more than 220 other exhibitors, including six regional
tourism organisations, at the popular event which is expected to see more than 40,000
people through its doors. With drive tourism increasing as a popular method of
domestic travel, the stand will provide an opportunity to engage with potential
travellers and raise awareness about the diversity of drive tourism experiences
Queensland has to offer.

On the trade front, Australia's largest tourism trade event, the Australian Tourism
Exchange (ATE), will kick off on Sunday with ATE Live from 6 to 9 June, immediately
followed by ATE Online, running from 10 to 17 June. The program will bring together
thousands of international and domestic travel buyers and frontline Australian tourism
industry representatives across more than 57,000 appointments. The Queensland
contingent this year is the largest ever with 223 Queensland sellers attending across
both events, representing 150 companies across the state. Queensland industry

representatives will have the opportunity to meet with 428 buyers representing 206
companies face-to-face at ATE Live and a further 506 buyer companies during ATE
Online. Visit the ATE website for more information and to view content from the live
event next week.

Townsville region to host major sporting spectacles

In a major coup for the Sunshine State, Townsville's Queensland Country Bank
Stadium will turn into the Cauldron of the North next week as it hosts State of Origin
Game One on 9 June. This is the first Origin ever held in a regional city and is expected
to provide a welcome economic boost to Townsville with Game One tickets selling out
within minutes and the city fully booked. Ahead of the opener, Townsville Enterprise
has partnered with Airbnb to help North Queenslanders roll out their welcome mats to
Origin fans and list their homes or spare rooms on Airbnb. It’s all hands-on deck with
all North Queensland industry stakeholders working around the clock to put on a
world-class event in only one week and give visitors a once-in-a-lifetime Origin
experience in tropical paradise.

In more great news, Townsville has secured the inaugural Oceania Rugby Sevens
Challenge next month, bringing Australia, New Zealand and Fiji’s best male and female
rugby talents and thousands of fans to North Queensland. The event is a major lead-up
trial ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and is expected to generate more than 10,000 visitor
nights and an estimated $2.3 million for the local economy.

What do tourism businesses need to do?

While tourism businesses are required to make their guests aware of public health
requirements, they do not need to enforce compliance. If you have concerns about the
health of a guest you can contact Queensland Health, or if you have concerns that
someone is not following Public Health Directions you can contact the Queensland
Police. You can display this poster at your tourism business to help notify your guests
of the requirements.
