Easter Sunday Page 2 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 21, 2019 When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory. — Colossians 3:4 HAPPY EASTER! Happy Easter! Or as most other languages prefer: Blessed Pasch—Passover! Pasqua, Pascua, Páscoa, Pâques! Israel’s Passover through the Red Sea to the Promised Land! Jesus’ Passover through the Cross to resurrection! Our catechumens’ Passover last night, and ours once upon a time, through Baptism’s waters to our family’s Eucharist! Welcome, everybody! As someone once said of the Catholic Church, “Here comes everybody!” So in this Jubilee of Mercy, we make our own Saint John Chrysostom’s Easter welcome from fourteen hundred years ago: “Let everyone enjoy this radiant feast! You who fasted from Lent’s beginning, and you who didn’t fast at all, rejoice! The table’s richly set! Come, take from it, everybody, no worries, no embarrassment! All of you, taste the banquet of faith! Enjoy the feast of forgiveness! Let no one grieve for having sinned again and again: pardon has risen from the tomb!” Happy Easter! Blessed Pasch! Welcome, everybody! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. Easter Sunday Page HAPPY EASTER CHRIST IS RISEN! ALLELUIA !!! In our Catholic Catechism the Church reminds us that “Easter is not simply one feast among others, but the Feast of feasts, the Solemnity of solemnities just as the Eucharist is the Sacrament of sacraments. The mystery of the Resurrection, in which Christ crushed death, permeates with its powerful energy our old time, until all is subjected to Him.” It is difficult for us to fully comprehend the importance of this day and its meaning for us, its fulfillment of hope for us. We consider this to be the most important day on our Church calendar. If we have properly approached the Lenten period, this day comes at the end of a period of prayer and fasting and almsgiving. We should have been prepared to spiritually die with Christ, and to rise as He did on this day to the promise of new life, both in this world and the next. Christ has saved us, and that alone is reason for our joyous celebration. By receiving the Eucharist on this day, we make a visible sign of our faith and our participation in the Kingdom of God. God is good—all the time! Jesus is Risen! Alleluia ! The empty tomb brings us hope The empty tomb brings us life. The empty tomb brings us love . . . .Jesus’ Love, The Love of God who is full of mercy. A Blessed and Happy Easter to you and your loved ones! Alleluia! Alleluia! Have a wonderful week! Fr. Innocent Subiza +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Child Abuse Prevention Month Safe Environment Requirements All clergy and employees and volunteers who have contact with minors are required to complete safe environment requirements for the Diocese of Sacramento. The requirements include a background check clearance through the Department of Justice for volunteers - clergy and employees are cleared through the Department of Justice and FBI. In addition to background checks, clergy, employees and volunteers are required to complete a child abuse recognition and reporting program. The training is completed through Safe Haven and has to be renewed every 3 years. Safe Haven is a 3 part video series, which identifies real-life abuse and neglect situations that adults may encounter. The training addresses important topics such as pornography, grooming techniques, social media interaction and boundary violations. ¡Feliz Pascua! ¡Bienvenidos todos!
