Your 4-Year Plan! • Encourages you to focus on your HS pathway • Helps guide you through your HS career • Most of all, prepares you for the future! Four-Year Plans are a work in progress; it can change throughout your four years of high school. Today is a starting point with changes to be anticipated each year during spring registration!

Soon you can find the 2017-2018 Academic Guide and Course Catalog at http://www.friscoisd.org/about/resources-and-information/high-school-guide-course- catalog Some courses have fees, prerequisites, and grade restrictions…..not reading the course description is not a legitimate reason to change your schedule next year!
Pre-Requisites Prerequisite—required or necessary as a prior condition. In order to take the classes below, a prerequisite class is required first. Examples: Spanish II Prerequisite: Spanish I Health Science (10th Grade Course) Prerequisite: Medical Terminology The 2017-2018 Course Catalog will outline the Prerequisites and the Grade Restrictions
What is a Credit? A student needs 26 credits in order to graduate. Credits are earned by passing your classes with a 70 or above. You will have room in your schedule to take 8 classes each year. High school runs on an A and B block schedule (4 classes a day)
High School Schedule • Known as an A-B block schedule • 8 total classes (4 A day classes/ 4 B day classes) • Lunch is 3rd Period and is 30 minutes • School starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m. • Each class is roughly 90 min. with a 6 min. passing period in-between classes • Tutorials are offered before & after school • Tutorials are also offered during Advisory Period which is 12:00 – 12:30 each day

PAP/AP Six-Weeks Commitment • Students who sign up for a PAP/AP class will be required to stay the entire first six weeks. The grade you have at the end of the six weeks will go with you to the new class. • Following the close of the first six weeks, students will not be allowed to drop the course until second semester begins.

Ways to Meet P.E. Credit •Make an Athletic Team The following earn .5 •Be an Athletic Trainer PE Credit for the fall: (application required) – Band •Dance Class Year 1 – Drill Team receives 1 PE credit; athletes cannot take – Color Guard •PE class – Cheer – Individual/Team Sports – Weightlifting – Adventure/Outdoor Education •Off-Campus PE
Athletic Seasons Fall Winter Spring Football Basketball Baseball Volleyball Soccer Softball Cross Country Wrestling Track Golf Golf Golf Tennis Tennis Tennis Swim/Dive Swim/Dive Swim/Dive -All students are free to sign up for any athletic sport they wish, but they must make the team in order to stay in the class. If you are cut your schedule will be changed. -Only list the first sport you are going to tryout for on your 4 year plan.

Thinking of Summer School? (There may be some changes with summer school) The following courses have been offered in Frisco ISD summer school for advancement: •Business Information Mngt(1 credit/2 terms) •Digital Media (1 credit/2 terms) •Health (.5 credit/1 term) •Professional Communications (.5 credit/1 term) •Medical Terminology (1 credit/2 terms) - Summer School grades do not count in GPA - Registration begins approx. mid-May through MPP - Students can take SS the summer prior to 9th grade - Each semester course costs approx. $250

Endorsement Plans •Identify the Endorsement Plan that you are most interested in pursuing •Put a check next to the Endorsement Plan on card if different from Multi-disciplinary (top of card). •Do not stress about the Endorsement Plans. Colleges do not care what Endorsement you graduate with, they want to see rigorous courses and solid grades.
