From Mikayla Anderson, Coordinator of Discipleship for Youth “A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit…” ~ Luke 6:43-44 Greetings! Next weekend, March 5-6, kicks off Youth 365, our annual fundraiser for youth ministry here at SJB. Youth 365 is a simple approach for you to invest in our youth; 365 ways with infinite reward. Our goal is to grow our youth ministry programing by providing each young person at our parish the opportunity to encounter our Lord Jesus Christ. This may hap- pen at one of our many encounter experiences, like a retreat, the March for Life, Catholic Youth Summer Camp, or during our ongoing and consistent ministry to youth at Youth Group or Discipleship Groups. Last year, we had our biggest group yet at Extreme Faith Camp (which is now called Catholic Youth Summer Camp, CYSC) with 72 students. This year we are bringing 100 students! Thank you to our parishioners for making this possible through prayer and financial aid. Both in 2021 and 2022, we were able to offer every student a $100 discount off the total cost of camp and ensure that finances are never a reason that a student isn’t able to participate. So many of our youth had deep encounters with Jesus Christ and Mary at CYSC last summer and I cannot wait to know what the Lord has in store for this year! Along with CYSC in the summer, our youth ministry programs have grown this year! We consistently have about 20-30 students at youth group, and they are invested in their faith. This year we have also been able to have two fun days with our middle school and high school students. The NET Team and I are focused on building our volunteer team for next year. Our NET team for the past three years has helped our youth ministry programs grow tremen- dously. We are so grateful for the work they have done, but our 3-year contract with NET Min- istries concludes in May of 2022. We have many volunteers who are helping with this transi- tion to ensure our youth programs stay strong after NET. However, we are still in need of many more volunteers to lead our youth to Christ. Please let me know if you want to be a part of the life-transforming ministry of our youth! There are many areas to get involved. St. John Paul II says this about our young people, “The future is in your hearts and in your hands. God is en- trusting you to the task at once difficult and uplifting, of working with Him in the building of the civilization of love.” Let us help our young people to build the kingdom. Your financial contribution helps them experience Jesus at camp and in our other youth ministry programs. Please pray for our youth to grow in holiness. In Christ, Mikayla Anderson
