Policies and Procedures Scholarships Lake County Government and the Recreation Department work hard to ensure that all residents of Lake County have an opportunity to access recreation programs and facilities. To help make this possible the Recreation Department provides scholarships to residents in our community. Youth Programs Basketball Boys and girls will have the opportunity to learn and improve their basketball skills in a fun, safe setting. Participants will practice once a week and play games on Friday evenings. No travel is required for this program! The season will end with a round robin tournament for grades 2-5. Hockey BASKETBALL This fun program focuses on basic skill development, from skating and stick handling, to passing and shooting. The Recreation Department does provide some equipment on a first-come first-serve basis. Please note that helmets and shin pads are required, and hockey sticks are provided or can be purchased at the Huck Finn Ice Rink. Volleyball Join us for this great program to learn the fundamentals of volleyball. Participants NUGGETS SKILLS CHALLENGE will be divided by grade level to work on passing, serving, setting, hitting, and court positions through a variety of drills and games. Join Lake County Recreation for the 10th Annual Nuggets Skills Challenge This event will be held on February 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at the 6th Street Gym. Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons Offered for youth and adults alike, private and semi-private swim lessons allow our highly qualified instructors to customize each session according to the clients ability, allowing participants to advance more quickly than in group lessons. Don’t forget, the facility is free to use for those with their own tubes. Mineral Belt Trail The Mineral Belt Trail is a 12-mile paved pathway that circles historic Leadville. This year-round, non-motorized trail is multi-use and can be utilized for a variety of activities. In the summer months walking, biking and running are popular pastimes for trail users. Once the snow flies the trail is beautifully groomed from December – March and can be used for walking, skiing and fat biking.
