Course Costs • North Queensland, Australia: Sustaining Humans + the Environment – 6 credits (LEI 4955/6931) – May 11 - June 8, 2020 – 2019 = Undergraduate $7,277 / Graduate $7,773 Now accepting interest for 2021 for: • New Zealand: Sustaining Humans + the Environment – 6 credits (LEI 4955/6931) – May - June, 2021 (3.5 weeks) • Fiji: Sustaining Humans + the Environment – 3 credits (LEI 4955/6931) – June, 2021 (10 days) Speak to Dr. Gibson to advise your interest.
Finances Covered: Not covered: • Tuition • Flights to/from Aus (~$1700) • Accommodations • Some meals & “free time” • In-country transportation activities (~$1000) • All course activities & lectures • Course packet • Some meals • Personal expenses • International health insurance • Emergency medical assistance What’s Due When? To apply: Australia: $375 deposit (towards program fee) All deposits are non-refundable. The remaining fees are due no later than 45 days prior to departure.

How to use your credit • Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management students can use the 6 credits from LEI 4955 as cognate courses or sport management electives • College of Business, General Studies majors (BABA) with an area of specialization in Travel and Tourism could possibly use the 6 credits from LEI 4955 toward your specialization with consent from a College of Business Advisor • College of Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations and Telecommunications majors with an outside concentration in Travel and Tourism could possibly use the 6 credits from LEI 4955 toward your outside concentration with consent from a College of Journalism Advisor • Upper division elective credit • Summer residency Talk to your Advisor!
Assignments The program is split into modules which relate to the topics you are covering throughout the trip. Assessments include: • Discussions + debates • Ethnographic study • Quiz • Essays • Research project • Final exam
Is this course right for you? - Physically active, field- based course (hiking, snorkelling & getting your hands dirty!) - Remote locations: Some stays with no Internet or reception - Basic accommodations: Hostels/dormitory style rooms, camping, homestays, small apartments with shared bath & kitchen. Single-gender shared rooms with 3-8 students each. - Work intensive: Be prepared to work hard, play hard, and have the time of your life.
