January 2020 Treemont Tattler Treemont Retirement Community 2501 Westerland Dr. Houston, TX 77063 (713)-783-6820 * A Message from Your Activity Director Happy New Year Everyone! 2020 is upon us and the winter chill has arrived. The holidays were busy and festive, but now it’s time to settle down and embrace the new year. This year I will be slowly adding new things every month to accommodate everyone’s liking. For example, I will be adding a Men’s Pub n’Grub Poker Time. Women will be allowed as well if they care to join in a hand of cards and pub appetizers. This month I have teamed up with James, Culinary Director to have a Cookies & Cocoa Station set Celebrating January up every Thursday at 3 pm in our Back Lobby by the fireplace. Last month we were not able to have our Get Organized Month December Birthday Dinner due to several illnesses throughout the building. This month we will combine both Polka Music Month December and January birthday dinners on January 14th (Tuesday) at 4 pm in the Auditorium. Bible Study with Happy New Year resident, Lois McCall is back in session starting January 6th January 1 at 3:30 pm in the Green Room. If you haven’t attended one of these classes, I recommend you do, you will surely enjoy her gifted wisdom. Ladie’s Breakfast January 8 Speaking of classes, our Creative Writing group joins in the Activity Room every Friday at 1:30 pm. Every week a new Men’s Beer Tasting topic is chosen to write on. This class allows you to let your January 9 mind roam free into the past, present and future. Our residents have some interesting takes that will keep your Birthday Dinner mind sharp and entertained. January 14 January is Health Awareness Month. We have different styles of exercise for everyone. Monica and Nancy lead the Martin Luther King Jr. Day morning exercises with a cardio followed by a slower paced January 20 therapeutic routine. We also offer Tai chi, Zumba, and Chair Aerobics. Join us for our speakers that offer helpful tips such Taste of China as Balance Checks, Fall Prevention and much more. Our Speakers are here on Wednesdays, at 10 am in the Green January 23 room. We have many new neighbors that have moved into Treemont.
