The President’s Award Gaisce Look at website Gaisce.ie. Go to bronze award to get information on what the award is all about. If participating in the Gaisce bronze award, register ASAP and pay online. You will be asked for a PAL ; Emer Kearney. I am registered with Gaisce so will come up as a PAL . There are 3 activities you have to decide on; o Community involvement o Personal skill o Physical recreation There is a list available online telling you what is acceptable in each activity. Decide on all 3 activities. They must be one hour a week for 13 weeks. An additional 13 weeks must be completed in any 1 of the 3 activities i.e one of activity will be 26 weeks in total. The 4th activity ,the Adventure journey is an organised 26 Km hike in Glendalough. The girls must be available for this trip. All activities including your chosen 26 week activity must be completed no later than the 30th of April , in order to secure your medal at your transition year award ceremony . Record sheets must be printed off from website and signed each week at each activity. Students are required to keep an online diary.

A placement which involves working with older people, people with special needs, disadvantaged persons or charities. • Nursing/retirement homes • Cheeverstown house • Animal welfare charities • Creches, schools & charity shops are more suitable for work experience. Form: Community Outreach placement form
TY folder & The Interview • Students own responsibility to complete the folder throughout the year. • It demonstrates their contribution to the TY programme. • Awards Night. • Folder will be the basis for the TY Interview at the end of the year.
