COURSE DESCRIPTION: The focus of this course is on experience design from the customer viewpoint. The training is designed to provide you with the skills to design and develop unique tourism experiences for the domestic market and promote these creatively. Tourism marketing, including social media and photography will be discussed in order to demonstrate how a potential market segment can be reached. She was responsible for marketing and selling both international and domestic tours to the school group market. In her role, she liaised with international tourism offices, accommodation suppliers, airlines and overseas tour operators. She has a strong personal interest in sporting events and is currently teaching Climate Change at the University of Canberra. Sarah Kerrsmith Sarah’s career in destination marketing over the past 20 years has spanned the globe, managing marketing, public relations and events at local, regional and international levels. Starting at the tourist board in her UK hometown, then as Marketing Manager for Central Coast Tourism and later to represent international destinations including the Kenya Tourist Board and Monaco Tourist Authority. These roles provided many opportunities for international and domestic travel which fuelled her passion for the industry. Sarah is a judge and mentor for tourism and event businesses entering Regional and NSW Tourism Awards. She is also a Quality Tourism Assessor for the Australian Tourism Industry Council. She has been teaching at TAFE since 2014 and is enjoying educating and nurturing the next generation of tourism and event professionals Damien McLellan Damien founded ECOTREASURES in 2010. His business specialises in Eco Tourism experiences of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ku-ring-gai Chase & Sydney Harbour National Park, as well as the surrounding areas of Sydney. He always wanted to work in conservation to learn about and protect the natural environment, so he completed undergraduate studies in Marine Biology at UTS followed by a PhD with the Climate Change Cluster at UTS. Damien carries multiple accreditations across environment, tourism and sport sectors. His business covers a wide range of experiences for leisure, tourism and education. Ron Beeldman Ron has worked as a guide and tour director for various global organisations for 21 years. He has been involved in marketing and business planning across Australia. He is a long standing judge of the NSW and Australian Tourism Awards and is a passionate and engaging teacher of economics and law at TAFE and University. She has been on several panels for judging event feasibility for funding purposes. She also teaches at university level. With an extensive background in event management, including a training role for Sydney and Beijing Olympic Games she has a strong practical and theoretical basis for teaching. Les Guthrie Les has worked in the events and hospitality sector for 20 years. Her role as torch bearer for the Sydney Olympic Games is her claim to fame, but her wider experience with the Olympic Games involved a secondment to work with the organising committee to deliver training to the workforce of around 110,000 volunteers and contractors. Les also worked in Sponsor Hospitality for the London Olympic Games. She is a popular teacher of the unit ‘Experience Design’ delivered as part of our university program. Nanette Bowen An Event/project manager with close to 25 years’ experience, Nanette has worked across events that support community, not-for-profit, corporate and sporting sectors domestically and internationally. With a focus on mass- participation events, she brings skills encompassing creative concepts, operations & logistics, client relations, budget management, sponsorship, marketing public relations and media. Ron Beeldman Ron is the managing director of Beeldman Special Events. He is a passionate and engaging teacher of economics and law at TAFE and University. Having run many events during his career, both large and small, he is well placed to provide outstanding guidance for feasibility submissions, particularly the more complex legal and risk elements. He has been involved in marketing and business planning across Australia. Major clients included City of Sydney, Best Western Group, Tourism Australia and the Tourism Council.
