Dear Friends, It is with joy that I can announce that the Session has met and has unanimously agreed to reopen our church building for worship at the end of July. The date of this reopening was based on the timeline of current construction projects, cleaning needs, live streaming installation, and our desire to have the reopening occur with near to full staff availability and participation. On July 25th, our sanctuary worship service will take place at 11 am. This service will be in addition to our on-line service, and parking lot service which will begin starting on July 25th at 9:30 am. We’re referring to our July 25th -Sept 5th sanctuary services as soft openings. We recognize that having been away so long, there will be readjustments as we move back into worship together. We want to provide everyone with as much flexibility as possible, staff and members, to navigate these changes. Starting September 12th, the first Sunday post Labor Day, it is our plan to return to worship as you may remember it. (9:30 am Sanctuary Service; 11:05 am Upper Room Service ideally, with live streaming capabilities to watch both services from home if desired or needed.) The Chancel Choir will be back at this time, as will a time of hospitality between services. Before we get to July 25th, we are making changes now. Beginning next Sunday, May 30th, we will provide a weekly time of outdoor fellowship prior to our parking lot services from 9:30-10:00 am. We hope you will join us for coffee and cookies prior to our 10 am worship service. If you have not yet tried our parking lot service, please bring a lawn chair, bring a pet, enjoy worship outdoors. This service has been a tremendous blessing to our congregation during challenging times. We look forward to seeing you back at church, Emily The retired men’s breakfast will be held Tuesday June 8 beginning at 7:30 am. We will meet at Bodes. 280 N. Main Street All retired men are welcome. Did you know? The owner of the restaurant is Dave Mueller, who is an FPCP member. Contact John Roose at lindaluke2018@gmail.com with any questions. What are Presbyterian Women Up to This Month? • Gave donations to Starr Commonwealth and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. • Leading a book discussion May 24th, “This Tender Land.” • Vacuumed, polished, and shampooed the 70 chairs in the chapel. Dear Friends, God truly has his hand over our church, and He has protected and guided us for 186 years. Over the course of nearly 2 centuries our congregation has always answered the call whenever there was a need for either volunteering God given talents or giving financial support. Quite often, those calls were on behalf our mission partners locally, nationally, and internationally who needed short-term help; in each instance, your generosity and support were overwhelming. In the past 3 years we have had to deal with unexpected and expensive repairs such as our boiler replacement, roof replacement and, most recently the COVID shutdown has allowed us to replace our failing HVAC systems scattered throughout the building as well as our fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. I am grateful to our Finance Committee who, through their financial stewardship, has always found a way to pay for our much-needed repairs. Friends, as we look forward to re-opening our church for in-person services and the joys of fellowship that it brings, we have a short window of time left to enhance the worship spaces where we gather and praise God, unfortunately, we do not have the funding available to finish what has been an amazing accomplishment over the past 3 years. We have an opportunity, before returning to in-person worship to: Paint the water-stained Sanctuary ceiling Replace the Sanctuary carpeting which was last replaced in 1975. Install innovative lighting that will reflect onto the ceiling and shine down into the Sanctuary that will improve reading hymnals and bibles (NOTE: THE EXISTING LIGHTS AND LIGHTING WILL NOT BE REPLACED) Install equipment that will allow live streaming of services for both the sanctuary and Upper Room that will allow persons unable to attend services in-person to view and participate in baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals and enjoy our amazing music program. Chapel carpeting New cushions for the pews. We are still waiting for bids, but it is estimated that the cost of these improvements will be approximately $78,021. These are not new items and they have been identified as a priority for several years. When planning for these improvements years ago we knew that the Sanctuary services would need to be held in Fellowship Hall for at least one month. It would be disheartening to finally return to services only to have them held in Fellowship Hall for weeks. With your generosity, we can use our gift of remaining time to complete the finishing touches to our house of worship. If we are able to raise these funds by the end of June, we can return to a church where we not only have the critical comfort and safety related systems that have been updated but we can enjoy our ministers preaching, listen to amazing choirs and experience church life events in a comforting, refreshened atmosphere and return to being the vibrant church that will energetically lead us out of COVID-19. During the early recovery from my recent surgery, the Deacons' Suppers of Support were lifesavers! With Steve working full-time and caring for me, having healthy, delicious meals arrive at supper time was most welcome. Church friends helped with occupational therapy, loaned me essential equipment, and drove me to physical therapy sessions until I was permitted to do it myself. When our son had to join us for a week during my recovery because his only bathroom needed to be replaced, he also enjoyed the meals. FPCP members helped with giving him rides to work, as I wasn't yet approved to drive. I am sure I haven't remembered everything that was done to help us, but all was greatly appreciated. The love and care shown to us has touched our hearts and made a real difference in our lives in recent weeks. You were the hands and feet of Jesus to our family. Many, many thanks! With gratitude, Molly Bell We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, emails, and dinners through this tough time of Pete being in the hospital. He returned to work this week and is doing very well. - Pete and Carol Uller Greetings, dear friends. News & Announcements Thursday Evening Prayer and Devotions - June “1-2-3” Friends, we will meet the first three Thursday evenings in June for a time of prayer and devotions. We will meet June 3, 10 and 17th at 8:30 p.m. To remember, just think of “1-2-3” !! Here’s the Zoom link, we hope you can join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82201558529 FPCP Partners in Earth Care encourage you to BIKE, WALK, or CARPOOL TO CHURCH Benefits include: • Decreased traffic on the roads • Reduced vehicle emissions • Increased physical activity level Located in downtown Plymouth, our church is the perfect location for many of us to walk or ride to Sunday services. As you walk or bike, use that opportunity as a quiet time to pray as you travel toward church. When you arrive at church, just ask one of our friendly parking lot volunteers and they will happily provide you with a chair to sit in during the service. We have a bike rack on church grounds for bike riders to safely store their bikes. If you would like to carpool to church, contact any member of our Partners in Earth Care Team (or Ailsa Blunk at lemonblunk[@]gmail.com) and we will be happy to find you someone to ride with. If you can provide a ride to those who live nearby, please let us know that as well. Studies show that people who choose to bike or walk tend to suffer less from depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Getting exercise by biking or walking can help to increase blood flow, release endorphins, and reduce overall stress. If you would like to participate even more in biking, walking or running, contact our Fitness in Christ team. There are weekly opportunities. “…God’s work in creation is too wonderful, too ancient, too beautiful, too good to be desecrated…Restoring creation is God’s own work in our time, in which God comes both to judge and to restore…” —PC(USA) Environmental Policy Be sure to like us on Facebook: FPCP Partners in Earth Care We are fast approaching "graduation season"! Fitness in Christ Update—Fundraiser for the Second Mile Center Calling all walkers, runners, cyclists; fitness and yoga beginners and enthusiasts; and anyone that wants to learn more about nutrition; and volunteers! On Saturday, June 12th, the Fitness in Christ team will be hosting a fundraiser for the parking lot construction at the Second Mile Center (SMC). We have reserved a pavilion at Helms Haven in Hines Park. The road in the park will be closed to traffic after 9 am from Farmington to Outer Drive Roads (6.5 miles). All participants will receive a “Fitness in Christ” shirt and can join in single or multiple events of their choice. We are asking all participants to raise at least $200 each. The schedule of activities are as follows: 8:00-9:00 am Registration 8:00-11:00 am Nutritional Table (“one on one” consultation) 9:00-11:00 am Walk/Run/Ride (all levels) 10:00-10:30 am Functional Fitness Class (for beginners and enthusiasts) 10:30-11:00 am Yoga (for beginners and enthusiasts) 11:00-12:00 pm Celebration Lunch (everyone) The parking lot at the SMC was completed this week! Now we need to raise an additional $12,500 to help pay for unexpected costs. Last fall, when bidding for construction began, we learned that a complete tear-up of the parking lot was needed in order to correct problems that could dramatically reduce the life of the parking lot. The Second Mile Center felt the additional investment was a priority to ensure the availability of this vital ministry space for many years to come. The SMC parking lot has proven to be an essential extension of the center because it provides the children with a large recreational space as well as a location for community-wide outreach events like health fairs and free dinners. For more information see http://www.secondmilecenter.org/about. To register as a fundraising participant or to volunteer, please sign up via this link: https:// www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A4CA5A62BA57-athlete Questions? The PW Coordinating Committee invites you to the last business meeting of this school year on Thursday, June 3rd at Plymouth Township Park at 7 p.m. Catering by Karl's Cabin. No fee; but please RSVP to kikifarrow@aol.com (Zoom in case of rain) Partners in Earth Care will be collecting household batteries next Sunday, June 6th. Button type and hearing aid batteries will be included in the collection. Please look for the clearly marked collection bin, located outside the parking lot doors. 9

VBS 2021 Join us on the fast track to family fun and experiencing God as we climb aboard the Rocky Railway! While VBS will look different this year, the fun and learning won’t change. We will be offering a hybrid VBS experience from July 18th to 23rd for families to explore together. On Sunday evening, we will gather in the FPCP train station for departure. You might also recognize it as the FPCP parking lot! Before departure on the Rocky Railway you will sing songs, hear a Bible story, and, most importantly, pick up all of the supplies you will need for the rest of the week. On Wednesday evening, passengers under 10 years old will Zoom with Mrs. Maginley to hear the Bible story for the day and talk about our trip on the Rocky Railway. On Friday evening, the train arrives back in the FPCP station for a celebration of all that we have learned and experienced during the week. The remainder of the week will be available for you to enjoy at home as a family. Bible stories, skits, songs, crafts, Science-y gizmos and more will be online or will be included in the supplies passed out on Sunday evening. We will include options for kids from preschool age through elementary (or older if they want to ride the rails also!) You can determine the time of day and choose the games or crafts based on ages and interests of your family. No special skills will be needed! Just a sense of fun and willingness to spend family time learning to “Trust Jesus”. Registration will be opening on May 21st for FPCP families. You will need to register on the FPCP website in advance so that we can guarantee parking space for all who want to climb aboard. On June 4th, we will open up registration to the community so please take advantage of the “early bird” registration so that your space is guaranteed. Registration will close on July 5th to give the conductor and engineer time to ready the train. There is no set ticket price for your ride aboard the Rocky Railway, but we are suggesting a donation of $10 per child. Stay tuned for further details or email DarleneMaginley@fpcp.net if you have any questions. 11
