Views from the Top: Equity Equals Success? Should there be enhanced laws against gender discrimination at the workplace? Beyond board representation, how else can businesses support the development of women? "Conventional biases related to gender representation, unfortunately, still exist, particularly in male-dominated industries such as logistics and technology. If enhanced laws would make employees safe, empowered, and not obligated to tolerate workplace discrimination on account of their gender, we are all for it. PLG focuses on evaluating skills and the value they can bring the team when hiring new members. We promote employees based on merit. Individual strengths and contributions are recognised and our training and mentorship are offered without preferential treatment. We promote employees based on merit. Tuas Mega Port's first two berths are set to open by end of 2021 The first two berths of the massive Tuas Mega Port project will be opened as planned by the end of the year, with phase one (which the two berths are fully part of) set to be completed by 2027. When fully built, Phase 1 will be able to handle 20 million TEUs a year with its 21 berths. Tuas Terminal Gateway (TTG) will commence operations with effect from 1st October, as Tuas Mega Port will be designated as an immigration anchorage for vessels arriving or departing Singapore. The SmartGate Portal Lanes at the gateway will help to reduce in-gate processing time and achieve flow-through clearance for hauliers. Located a short distance away from the port, PLG is prepared to handle any logistical and transportation needs, helping companies to embark and disembark cargoes quickly to facilitate quick turnarounds. Back in March, our project team helped with the trucking, unstuffing and delivery of x-ray machines as part of Phase 2 preparations. We are excited for the upcoming opening and the opportunities that the new port entails! News Source: Straits Times and Port Authority of Singapore
Meeting Singapore's Ambassador to Laos Ms. Leow Siu Lin, Singapore's Ambassador to Laos visited our Laos office, where our team shared with her about our operations and future plans. With ventures such as the Laos China Railway, Thanaleng Dry Port, and Vientiane Logistics Park coming onstream soon, many developments are underway and the team is excited for what's to come. Our Pallet Service Border closures have resulted in a shortage of pallets, thereby increasing their prices. At PLG, we are able to manufacture our own pallets to provide you an affordable option to suit your cargo needs. To keep your goods safe, our pallets are also heat-treated and certified. Our Sharing Hub Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional East and Southeast Asian festival. It is the second-most important holiday in China after Chinese New Year, and it has a history stretching back over 3,000 years when the Emperor of China worshipped the moon for plentiful crops. We hope you had a good Mid-Autumn and celebrated this symbolic day of reunion with your family! Noticed anything familiar in the current Channel 8 drama series, "Keywitness"? Our main office on level 6 was featured in the first episode of "Keywitness", which is currently airing on Channel 8. It was interesting to see how our office transformed into an Interpol Office for the filming of the drama, from the reception to our Founder's office. Check out the episode (timestamp from 11:15 - 14:44) here!
