Surveillance Report As of July 5th : • Over 183.7 million COVID-19 cases and over 3.98 million deaths have been reported worldwide. • Over 2.9 billion vaccine doses administered worldwide • 546,217 cases of this illness confirmed in Ontario, including 9,224 deaths • Local: Data source: Ontario Ministry of Health (Ministry) Public Health Case and Contact Management Solution (CCM), extracted 2021-07-6. Delta Variant • Since July 6th, MLHU has reported a total of 25 Delta variant positive cases. • Delta is already the dominant variant in Ontario and anticipate it will become so in the region soon ➢ What makes the Delta variant different?

COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage
COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility: Accelerated second doses for all individuals 12+ • Shortened interval guidance as of June 28th: o NEW – ALL individuals who received a first dose of an mRNA vaccine are now eligible to re-book their second dose appointment at the 28-day shortened interval (12+) o All individuals who received a first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine are eligible to re-book their second dose appointment at an 8 to 12 week interval • Individuals cannot receive a second dose at a shorter interval than 28 days for mRNA vaccine or 8 weeks for a viral vector vaccine.

If you did not receive an email receipt for your first or second dose or have misplaced your receipt, access it at: https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca/ To access your receipt, you will need: • Health card information (green photo OHIP cards only) • Date of birth • Postal code
Guidance for Those Vaccinated Outside of Ontario/Canada New guidance available on MLHU’s website: https://www.healthunit.com/reporting-covid-19-vaccines-to-mlhu • Currently, records for COVID-19 vaccination cannot be submitted through ICON or online to MLHU (i.e. via email) • MLHU is working on a process for people to submit COVID-19 vaccine records electronically for assessment and entry into COVAXon.
Delta Variant Increase • Increased incidence in Middlesex-London, presumed to soon to be the dominant strain in our region • To ensure maximum protection against COVID-19 and the Delta variant, Ontarians should should complete their vaccination series as soon as they can • PHAC has noted the following about the Delta variant; • Transmissibility is high • Disease severity is unknown • Immunity and re-infection in convalescent patients is low • Vaccine effectiveness is moderate and better after a completed series, and • Surveillance programs have a moderate risk of not detecting cases.
AEFI Update • mRNA vaccines and myocarditis – (NACI) updated guidance includes; • For an informed consent prior to mRNA vaccination include discussion about the very rare risk of myocarditis and/or pericarditis following immunization. • As a precaution, individuals who experienced myocarditis and/or pericarditis after a first dose of an mRNA vaccine should wait to get their second dose until more information becomes available.
Roadmap to Reopen Moving through the steps: The Province will remain in each step for at least 21 days. Consideration for moving to Step 2 will include: • evaluation of vaccination rates • positive trends in other key public health and health system indicators
Step 2 Key Messages • Keep it outdoors as much as possible • Only gather indoors if absolutely necessary; if indoors within the gathering limit (5 people), ensure everyone you are indoors with is fully vaccinated • Families with children under 12 (not yet eligible to be vaccinated): • Keep it outdoors • Stick to close contact with your immediate household only • Mask if you absolutely must be indoors with people who are not part of your household
Day Camp Guidance Outdoor activities are strongly encouraged! Indoor sport and recreational fitness activities are not permitted during Step 2 of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen • Must run for a minimum of 1 week (consecutive days), with consistent cohorts for the duration of each camp session for up to 2 weeks. i.e , if the camp runs for 1 week, the same cohort must be maintained for the full week. If the camp runs for 2 weeks, the same cohort must be maintained for both weeks. • Day Camps must comply with sector-related requirements that are identified in O. Reg. 263/20. For example, if a day camp is music-oriented, the camp must comply with the requirements in the regulation which are related to music. • All staff and campers should be encouraged to receive COVID-19 vaccinations (as per eligibility criteria). • Practice physical distancing, cleaning and sanitizing, hand hygiene and masking as much as possible.
