Richtersveld & South Namibia the landscape edition Day 1 Thu 9 July 2020 Pretoria-Augrabies (920km) Depart 06h00. Lunch: picnic on the road. 17h00 Book into Chalets at Augrabies. Photograph- Augrabies waterfall late afternoon with sundowner. Dinner: Bobotie, Salad & pudding. Day 2 Fri 10 July Augrabies - Port Nolloth (440km) 06h30 Coffee & rusks Photograph- Augrabies sunrise and Moonrock. Lunch- Picnic on the road. Book in at Scotia Inn Hotel visit beach Dinner: Own account at quaint beachfront seafood restaurant, cheap crayfish. Photograph- Augrabies sunrise and Moonrock scapes with model for creative references. Country road happenings, Pella a remote Karoo town, cathedral and its people, sunset on Atlantic ocean and painting with waves time exposures after sunset. Day 3 Sat 11 July Port Nolloth - Sendelingsdrif - Richtersveld (172km) Early morning beach walk. 07h00 Hotel Breakfast. Discover Port Nolloth and McDougallsbaai. 14h00 Leave for Richtersveld Dinner- Hein’s Chicken Tika Masala on basmati rice. Photograph- Before sunrise seascapes, travel and street photography, country road happenings and sundown at Orange River. Day 4 Sun 12 July Sendelingsdrif - Kokerboomkloof Richtersveld (80km) 06h00: Coffee, Rusks & cereals Into Richtersveld via Akkedis Pass. Lunch- Picnic en route 15h00 Pitch camp at Kokerboomkloof Dinner- Rump steaks and baked potato Photograph- This is a photo paradise for a six hour 4x4 trip and amazing sunsets with a landscape filled with quiver trees. Star trails or moonscapes at night. DAY 5 Mon 13 July Kokerboomkloof 06h00: Coffee, Rusks & cereals Visit look outs and other scenic parts of Rictersveld Lunch- Picnic at Richtersberg on Orange river Hunt for the elusive Mensboom. Dinner: Potjie and pot-pudding. Prepare camp for early getaway. Photograph - There is no desert flora on our planet, possessing similar species richness and individuality of flora. The most expansive rock and scape formations I have ever seen in my life. On a surface area of one square kilometre more than 360 plant species of flowering plants are found. DAY 6 Tue 14 July Kokerboomkloof - Luderitz (400km) 06h00: Coffee, Rusks & cereals Break camp and do the round trip back to Sendelingsdrif. Amazing scapes and flowers around every corner on this route. Lunch- Picnic at river crossing Cross Orange river with pontoon at Sendlingsdrift and head for Luderitz. Book in at Guest house. Dinner- Chops and braaibroodjies Photograph - Desert flora, expansive rock and scape formations and happenings on the road to Luderitz. DAY 7 Wed 15 July (150km) The round tour 06h00: Coffee, Rusks & cereals Drive to Diaz Point past the oyster farm to the lagoon, drive further for colonies of seals, penguins etc. Grosse Bucht, Griffin Bay, Lunch: Pregos en-route There are numerous small bays and inlets on the rocky coastline with evocative names such as Conception Bay. Dinner: Chicken curry and Pudding Photograph- Diaz Point & Diaz Cross various small harbours. Time exposures on seascapes and shooting seascapes after sunset from Shark Island. DAY 8 Thu 16 July (60km) 06h00: Coffee, Rusks & cereals Kolmanskop: morning shoot Brunch and beer at Kolmans (own pocket) 14h00 Return to Kolmanskop. Dinner: Snoekbraai and pumpkin tart Photograph- The Kolmans experience with a fantastic model. Day 9 Fri 17 July (470km) Luderitz - Sesriem 05h30 Coffee, rusks & cereals Of to to Garub Pan in search of the mysterious 'Wild Horses of the Namib'. Lunch: picnic on the road Pitch camp at Sesriem Dinner: Peri-peri/BBQ chicken rice and veggies Photograph- Desert horses early morning. DAY 10 Sat 18 July (120) Sesriem - Sossus Vlei - Sesriem 05h30 Coffee, rusks & serials Drive to Sossus parking area, then with 4X4 to Sossus Lunch: Picnic at Sossus Visit Deadvlei in afternoon. Dune 45 and Elim dune for sunset Dinner: Pork belly butternut and potatoes Photograph- Sunrise in the desert - Namib desert's red dunes at Sossus Vlei at first light - Dead Vlei scapes- get close and shoot wide - dune 45 and Elim Dune in late afternoon - sunset in desert. DAY 11 Sun 19 July (120) Sesriem - Sossus Vlei - Sesriem 05h30 Coffee, rusks & serials Drive to Sossus parking area, then with 4X4 to Sossus at first light. Visit Dead Vlei. Lunch: Kuier at Sesriem lapa restaurant (own pocket) Visit Sesriem Canyon. Dune 45 and Elim dune for sunset Dinner: Potjie Photograph- Sunrise in the desert - Namib desert's red dunes at Sossus Vlei at first light - Dead Vlei scapes- get close and shoot wide - dune 45 and Elim Dune in late afternoon - sunset in desert. DAY 12 Mon 20 July Sesriem - Swakopmund (360km) 05h30 Coffee, rusks and cereals Break camp and head for Swakopmund Brunch at Solitaire best apple pie in the world (own pocket) Drive through Khomas Hochland/Naukluft Park, Kuiseb pass, Walfish bay to Swakopmund. Pitch camp at Alte Brüke luxury campsite (Swakopmund) Dinner- Sheppards Pie & pudding Photograph- Elim dune at sunrise - Solitaire's spirit - many landscapes en-route including mountains, perfect pano opportunities with guidance (Gaub & Kuiseb Pass) and stop-over at rock arc. DAY 12 Tue 21 July 08h00 - English Breakfast Explore Swakop and relax on the beach. Visit museum, cheese and beer tasting and much more entertainment this holiday village has to offer. Shopping and relax Dinner- Pepper steak, garlic bread, salads and pudding Photograph- German buildings in Swakop, fishing, seabirds at sunset instruction on action of birds taking fish. DAY 13 Wed 22 July Visit Walvis Bay area (200km) Lagoon, birds, salt and desert 07h00 Camp Breakfast Drive to Walvis Bay lagoon, passing a myriad of flamingoes (wait for some of them to take off and land to reveal the beautiful dark pink of the feathers underneath their wings) Drive to Dune 7, Sand-board, quads or if fit enough climb dune 7 (the 7th largest dune in the world). Lunch- Picnic at dune 7. Do a short desert trip in search of the Welwitschia. Back to Swakop. Dinner- Fish broth alla Hein. Photograph- Birds in flight, a myriad of flamingoes - Walvis Bay from the sea. The salt mines and then the scarce living fossil, the Welwitschia. Drive to Walvis Bay and chase 1000's of flamingos flying and landing on salt lakes. DAY 14 Thu 23 July (extra day) Visit Walvis Bay area (200km) Little 5 photo shoots or Henties fishing 07h00 Camp Breakfast Some are going on Tommies Little 5 Photo Tour. Need to know numbers for us to arrange (own pocket). Me Brandon and some other drinkers are going to spend the day at Henties fishing, braaing and kuiering in general, do not know who is going to drive back. Lunch- Braai on beach. Back to Swakop. DAY 15 Fri 24 July Swakopmund - Spitskoppen (200km) DAY 17 Sun 26 July 07h00 - Breakfast Windhoek-Kang Botswana (710km) Do camel adventure and desert shoot with super model. Coffee and rusks Lunch- Hamburgers. Lunch- picnic on the road Pack and for camping at Spitskoppen. Book in at Kang. Pitch camp at stand no. 4 or 5 Dinner Christine’s snack platter in garden next to pool Dinner- Oxtail and potbrood (optional Kang restaurant for own account). Photograph- top fashion and desert shoot with camels. Rocks, the Eye and spectacular sunsets. Night falls display stars and DAY 18 Sun 27 July galaxies or moonscapes. Kang Pretoria (700km) 06h00: Coffee & rusks DAY 16 Sat 25 July Lunch - picnic on the road Spitskoppen - Windhoek (300km) 06h00 Coffee, rusks and cereals Day 19 Tish is back in time to do her shoots Do hike with guide to busman drawings and education on rocks and gemstones. Lunch- Hotdogs at camp Break camp for last time. Book into luxury chalet tents at Urban Camp Windhoek, due to change of dates they only have the üp-market Chalet Day 1: Augrabies Chalets Day 2: Scotia Inn Hotel Tents available, it caused a slight adjustment on costing. Dinner- The world renowned Joe’s Pub (own account).
