Israel Flight to Jerusalem The Itinerary Day 1/ Monday 1st Nov. London/Jerusalem – Depart HEATHROW AIRPORT direct to TEL AVIV – – Arrival of Zimbabwe party – On arrival, travel by private coach up to Jerusalem and the hotel for light refreshments and room allocation. Overnight in JERUSALEM The Old City from the Mount of Olives
Israel Bethlehem & Regions Day 2/ Tuesday 2nd Nov. Jerusalem Model Part on foot and part by coach for the best part of the day with visits: Way of the Cross – Follow the traditional route through the markets and bazaars to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The Jerusalem Model - Located within the Israel Museum, an open air display of the Old City from the Gospel period - built on a scale of 1-50 with the Temple on view. Biblical Gardens – Visit the nearby landscaped grounds at Neot Kedumim Park which displays the trees and plants and many reconstructions of the Biblical World. Shepherds’ Fields – On to the pastoral regions of Bethlehem where the Angels announced the birth of Christ. Bethlehem Town – Into Manger Square and a visit to the Church of the Nativity originally commissioned in 327 AD by Constantine the Emperor. Israel Jerusalem & Regions Day 3/ Wednesday 3rd Nov. Part on foot and part by coach visiting: Tear-drop Chapel Bethphage – Visit the chapel commemorating the beginning of Jesus’ “Palm Sunday” journey. The Pater Noster Church – Stop here where the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ was taught by Jesus and where the prayer is shown in 140 languages. Mount of Olives – Up to the summit for an impressive panorama of the Old City and hear something of its great history. Garden of Gethsemane – Amble down the hillside stopping at the Tear-Drop Chapel (Dominus Flevit) ‘before arriving at the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations for a time of reflection. Pool of Bethesda – Enter St. Stephen’s Gate to see where the cripple was healed by Jesus and St Ann’s Crusader Church with its unique acoustics. The Judgement Hall – On to see the Judgement Hall (Gabbatha/Pavement) where Pilate judged Jesus and the ‘Game of Kings’ is etched into the floor. The Bazaars – Some time to browse in the Markets and Bazaars. Dinner & Overnight in JERUSALEM Palm Sunday Path
Israel Jerusalem Old City Day 4/ Thursday 4th Nov. Within the gates of Jerusalem: Western Wall – Opportunity to witness Jewish prayers and traditions. City of David – See where Jerusalem began as ‘Jebus and Salem’ including David’s Palace, Hezekiah’s Tunnel and the huge Pool of Siloam. Mount Zion – On to the Mount and see the “Upper Room” and Tomb of King David. Then to nearby St. Peter’s Church, built over the remains of the Palace of Caiaphas where Jesus was tried under Jewish law. The Garden Tomb - See a 1st century rolling-stone tomb and ‘Gordon’s Cavalry’ nearby followed by a private communion service. Dinner & Overnight in JERUSALEM The Western Wall
Israel Dead Sea Region Day 5/ Friday 5th Nov. Bethany To the lowest point on the earth’s surface: Herod’s Masada – Down to the shores of the Dead Sea to ascend 400 metres by cable-car to the summit of the mountain. Hear the dramatic account of Jewish Zealots withstanding the Roman army after the fall of Jerusalem in AD70. The Scrolls – Stop by the Caves of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by the shepherd boy in 1947 and where in the Gospel period, the Essene Jewish community lived. Dead Sea Bathe – Time to experience “floating” in the unique medicinal waters. Bethany – Returning to Jerusalem, stop in the village home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus’ Tomb. Israel North to Galilee Day 6/ Saturday 6th Nov. Depart by coach after breakfast and travel north: The Good Samaritan – Down the Jericho road and into Wadi Kelt to see sections of the Old Roman Jericho road on which Jesus based the “Good Samaritan” story. Jericho Oasis – Time in this oasis town and view the “fallen walls” of Joshua’s conquest. Then ascend the Mount of Temptation by cable car with its impressive views of the area and Mount Nebo from where Moses saw the ‘Promised Land’. Jordan River – Jericho Cable car To the banks at Bethany-beyond-the Jordan where John baptised. The Rift Valley – North by the mountains of Gilead, Samaria and Mount Gilboa. Beth Shean – View the impressive remains of the city where Saul and his sons ended their days. The excavations give a sense of the grandeur of Imperial Rome. Israel Gospel Galilee Day 7/ Sunday 7th Nov. The day around Galilee’s shores: Sailing Galilee – A private sail from Tiberias to the northern Gospel shores in a wooden boat similar to those used by the disciples.’ Magdala – Dock to see the new excavations of the fishing village home of Mary Magdalene. Mount of Beatitudes – Up to the hillside overlooking the sea where Jesus delivered the “Sermon on the Mount”. Tabgha (Mensa Christi) – Down to the shores where Jesus made breakfast for the disciples in his resurrection appearance. Capernaum – Time in Jesus’ Galilean Centre and see the remains of a 1st century synagogue and “Peter’s House”. Dinner & Overnight by GALILEE Sea of Galilee
Israel Nazareth & Regions Day 8/ Monday 8th Nov. Armageddon The day by coach in lower Galilee: Nazareth Town – A visit to the Church of the Annunciation – built over the original village of Gospel days. The Nazareth Village – A tour with explanations of this landscaped area displaying rural village life in ancient days. Mount Precipitation – Just outside Nazareth with its stunning views of the Jezreel Valley where four biblical battles took place (Deborah & Barak, Saul & the Philistines, Gideon & the Midianites, Elijah & Baal). Megiddo (Armageddon) Crsoss the Jezreel Valley to visit Solomon’s Chariot city and the ‘Armageddon’ of Revelation. Mount Carmel Mount On to ascend the Mount where Elijah encountered the prophets of Baal. Carmel Dinner & Overnight by GALILEE The Nazareth Village
Biblical Dan Israel Hermon & Golan Day 9/ Tuesday 9th Nov. By coach for most of the day Paul’s Road to Damascus – Ascend the Golan Heights to stop at Quinetra in the region where Paul was converted. Caesarea Philippi - Through the Druze Villages to the slopes of Mount Hermon where Jesus took the disciples and Peter confessed, ‘You are the Christ’. Biblical Dan - On to the nearby old capital, one of the sources of the Jordan River on the borders of ancient Phoenicia, to walk the nature trail by the river. Dinner & Overnight by GALILEE Mount Hermon Biblical Dan Visit & Return flight Day 10/ Wednesday 10th Nov. Travel to Tel Aviv airport with a stop on the way: Paul’s Caesarea - Down the Mediterranean coast to visit King Herod’s huge sea port and capital where Paul was imprisoned, and Cornelius was the first Gentile convert. See the aqueduct, walk the shores to Herod’s Palace and visit the impressive Amphitheatre. Return Flight - On to Tel Aviv airport for the afternoon return flight to Heathrow. Caesarea Maritima
