The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) 2019 Acquisitive Art Prize is open to Australian artists over the age of 18. Employees of St Vincent’s are eligible to apply. 2. Entries must be the artist(s) original work in any wall-based medium (painting, printmaking, photography, works on paper, relief sculpture, textiles). Works must be able to be hung on the gallery cable tracking system. 3. One single work only is permitted for each artist. 4. Dimensions of work must not exceed 50cm in width or height inclusive of frame. 5. Artists may collaborate on a work. 6. Entries must be created in response to the theme art in science, science in art. 7. Each entry must have a statement included in the entry form of approximately 50 words explaining artists’ response to the theme. Artists agree to statements being published in a catalogue for the exhibition. 8. Entries must not conflict with the values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. Entry forms must be submitted to Hannah Herring by 5pm Friday 19 July 2019 via email or post. Entry forms must include all details about the work to be submitted, including a .jpg file or photograph of the work. 10. Confirmation of entry will be via email to entrants once the entry form is received. 11. Delivery of work is Friday 26 July between 10am and 2pm to Level 5, Aikenhead Building, 27 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy. Each entry must have a completed entry form si gned and delivered with the work. Artists may contact Hannah Herring if they require the work to be delivered earlier than this date. No entries will be accepted after this date. 12. All entries must be ready to hang when delivered to St Vincent’s. Please make sure that all works have D rings attached 6cm below the top of the work on left and right vertical edges and that all works on paper are properly framed and glazed. 13. All works must be labelled clearly on the back with the artist’s name, title of work and a contact number. 14. St Vincent’s reserves the right to not exhibit any work deemed unsuitable or unsafe to hang or if it does not meet the terms and conditions of entry or required standard for display in St Vincent’s Gallery. Artists will be notified about submission acceptance or otherwise once the entry form has been received. 15. By entering this exhibition you hereby warrant that all details provided by you are true and correct and that your entry contains only material i) which is not subject to copyright ii) in respect of which you hold copyright; and/or iii) in respect of which you have a valid, subsisting licence to use any copyrighted material. 16. You hereby indemnify St Vincent’s against any loss, damage or expense suffered or incurred by it as a result of breach of these warranties. 17. By entering the ACMD Acquisitive Art prize all artists consent to the possibility of entries including image, name and artists’ statements being used in the competition and
promotion of the ACMD 2019 Acquisitive Art Prize. For reproduction of individual artworks for any other purpose St Vincent’s will seek copyright permission first from the artist. 18. Whilst all care will be taken with the handling of work in relation to the ACMD Acquisitive Art Prize, neither St Vincent’s, its staff or volunteers will be responsible for any loss or damage to artworks for the duration of this exhibition. 19. Transport of the artwork to and from St Vincent’s is the sole responsibility of the artist and artists are advised to obtain their own insurance for their artworks. 20. Judging will be conducted under the supervision of the St Vincent’s Art Committee with the inclusion of Research Governance and consumer representatives. 21. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 22. All artworks will be on display from Thursday 1 August to Friday 30 August 2019 in St Vincent’s Gallery, Ground Floor, Daly Wing, 35 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy. The gallery hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 3.30pm. 23. The opening night of the exhibition will take place at St Vincent’s Gallery on Tuesday 6 August at 5pm. The Acquisitive Award and Staff Award will be announced at this event. The People’s Choice Award will be announced at the end of the exhibition. 24. The winning entry of the ACMD Acquisitive Art Prize will become the property of St Vincent’s Art Collection and St Vincent’s will seek copyright permission to repro duce the winning entry in future communications associated with St Vincent’s 25. The winning artist(s) of the Acquisitive Award will receive a single prize of $2,000 in total prize money. If more than one artist is involved in the work, it is the responsibility of the artists to determine the split of prize money. St Vincent’s staff members are eligible to win the Acquisitive Award. 26. The winning artist(s) of People’s Choice award will receive a single prize of $100 in total prize money. If more than one artist is involved in the work, it is the responsibility of the artists to determine the split of prize money. 27. The winning artist(s) of the St Vincent’s Staff Award will receive a single prize of $100 in total prize money. If more than one artist is involved in the work, it is the responsibility of the artists to determine the split of prize money. 28. All entries other than the winning entry can be for sale if the artist(s) so chooses. St Vincent’s will take a 25% commission on sales and artists must factor in the commission into their selling price. Artists will need to invoice St Vincent’s within one month of the close of the exhibition to receive payment for any artworks sold. 29. Collection of artworks must take place on Monday 2 September. Works will be available for pick up from St Vincent’s Gallery between 10am and 12pm on this day. If other arrangements need to be made for pick up then this must be organised with Hannah Herring prior to this date. No responsibility will be taken for works not collected within two weeks of the end of the exhibition.
