Volunteer’s Role Today • Provide guidance and assistance to students. • Facilitate group activities. • Monitor student progress. • Distribute and collect necessary materials. • Watch for teachable moments.
Student Arrival Upon student arrival we will have you stand in a line and assign you a group of students You will then take your group to your table and give them a name tag, life situation sticker, and debit card only. A JA staff member will announce when everyone should come back into the park for announcements and student log in.

NMI Worksheet All answers must be rounded to the nearest dollar! Check student’s answers and initial when correct.
Guidelines & Actual Budget Worksheet Line 9 from NMI worksheet becomes Line 1 on Guidelines & Actual Budget worksheet. Students complete Steps 1 and 2 by calculating percentages to nearest dollar amount.
Lucky Chance Card Account Number 050 A relative pays you $25 this month to help her with her bookkeeping. Add $25 to the NMI Worksheet.
The Big Search • Come into the Park • Ensure students are checking off the option sheets they are collecting and printing • Apply for a loan at the bank as well as pick up savings sheet • Students will write down stock prices (this is for fun and to help teach about investing) • Gather your group of 6 students once all sheets have been collected and go back into the classroom area

Reminder • Option sheets can be collected in any order • Students need to take their checklist and debit card with them during the Big Search • Print from businesses in “right-hand” column. Pick up from businesses in “left- hand” column.
The Budget Puzzle • Sit with students at table in classroom area • Hand out Unlucky Cards now • Have students organize option sheets by line number (located at the top right of each page) • Once students pick their choice of each, write expense in column 3 of the Budget Sheet (Green). • Then students will subtract all expense from their NMI • Balance must be zero or positive prior to beginning the next phase.

Actual Budget 2,764 Total Amount to be Paid - must be less than NMI Balance must be 0 or greater.
The Final Commitment •Bring your group back into the park •Student will go to each kiosk to select an option and pay for it (they will pay for their house, transportation and savings at the bank) •Once they go to each they will go to check out (an adult MUST check them out) •Once they complete check out the student will write a quote, get a crossword puzzle and then find you. •Once all your students (6) have completed check out you may take your group back to your table to clean up the area. You will collect all materials except their folders and paperwork.

Philanthropy • Students are encouraged, but not required to make a cash donation. • Charitable giving also includes time and talent as options. • Students must choose at least one form of giving to be recorded at the Philanthropy payment computer.
Budget Review & Checking Out
Closing Activities • Students clean work area. • Collect calculators. • Collect Lucky & Unlucky Chance Cards. • Students place all paperwork in student folders to take back to school. • Students remain in work area until dismissed by a JA Finance park staff member. • Time permitting, we will debrief with students.
