Elisna Bosch Chair person • In charge of the communications between OTAU management and the beagle interest group. • Enforcing the rules of the beagle interest group. • Assisting members of the committee as well as ensuring that they do their work.
Anien Bezuidenhout Vice chair and secretary • Assisting the chairperson in communications with sponsors and arranging new events with OTAU management. • Organizing meetings and keeping record of the minutes of these meetings. • Reminding committee members of upcoming events. • Standing in for the chairperson if she is unavailable.
Jaco Theron Internal events • In charge of events such as wash days, fun run, guest speakers etc. • Making sure that all supplies, equipment etc. are available and ready when needed. • Working together with other committee members that have ideas for internal events. Puppy management • Handling the vaccinations, deworming, weighing of pups, optimising their growth and feeding the correct types of food at the different ages. • Handling everything happening inside the neonatal room.
Ceallach Foster External events • Dog parks, Run for Rhinos – Arranging with Sr Annette when and where we would like to take the dogs. • Making sure that all the dogs will be safe by doing adequate research about the place beforehand and providing all necessary information to Sr Annette. • Organising that everyone going knows how the day will work (driving arrangements, water, treats etc.)
Teneal Naidoo & Coert van der Westhuizen Puppy trainer • Socializing of pups as soon as they are allowed outside the neonatal room. • Basic discipline training of pups being kept as well as preparing them for practical’s. • Coming up with fun, exciting new ideas about training techniques and tricks to teach the dogs. • Working closely with Sr Carla to ensure the training techniques are correct.
Muhammed Moola & Tamryn Bertram Adult trainer & agility centre coordinator • Improving the discipline of the adult dogs. • Assisting in socializing the dogs. • Getting people to work more with the dogs. • Showing people some tricks they can train their dog and ways to connect more with their dog. • Working closely with Sr Carla to ensure the training techniques are correct. • Coming up with ideas on how to improve the agility centre and keeping it in a good condition.
Nicole Hickman Admin • In charge of the walking lists – E-mailing the necessary information to Dr van Vollenhoven at the end of each month and refilling the file with new lists. • Keeping record of attendances to events for house points. • Getting appropriate gifts for the walker of the month. • Replacing the key sign out lists when full and ensuring there are keys to the kennels. • Doing the Beagle Allocations.
Chantelle Blofield Media, advertising and communication • Keep beagle website up to date. • Make posters of events and put them up on campus as well as removing the posters after the events. • Communicate with the beagle interest group on Facebook and Whatsapp. • Keep the Facebook group (Onderstepoort Beagle Interest Group) up to date. • Keeping the walker Whatsapp groups updated as to what is happening with their specific dog.
Carla de Kock Socializing and enrichment • Coming up with ways to improve the dog day enclosures (toys, tunnels, digging holes etc.) • Planning small events for the whole club to enjoy with the beagles. • Helping the trainers to socialize the dogs by organising different dog breeds to come to campus.
Daniella van der have Adoptions • Keep up to date with which dogs will be adopted and when. • Setting up a system where people can sign up to adopt a dog when they are old enough. • Personally introduce the person adopting a dog to Sr Annette and remain in contact with the person adopting the dog until the specific dog is taken away. This way we will know exactly when the dog is going to another home thus we can give people that want to say goodbye, sufficient time to do so before the dog is taken away
Francisca Gissing Community outreaches • Organising Wollies outreaches – creating Whatsapp groups ahead of time for the people going in order to communicate all the arrangements. • Getting people more involved and to donate more towards outreaches. • Communicating with the management of Wollies to remind them when we are visiting. • Possibly creating new community engagement events for the club to participate in.
Ida Glover Treasurer • Over sees the club’s finances by keeping track of the budget. • Assisting each portfolio when money is required by claiming it from the university. • Informing the committee when the funds are low or when there were changes made in the total amount of money available for the use of the beagle interest group.
