Term One, Week Eleven 2021 Tenā Koutou Kimi Community As we head into the last week of Term One, we all have great appreciation for the amazing weather that Te Whanganui-a-Tara continues to put on for us. Let's hope this stays for the school holidays and we can continue to enjoy time outside. It has been a busy term and our students have been out and about a lot in our community. Students and staff have been spending time at a variety of different places in their local communities in relation to the topic we have been studying this term of ‘Whenua’ or the Land. In the Hutt, students have been on some different walks in the area such as around the Eastbourne peninsula and around the Hutt River. Students at Evans Bay have been clocking the miles walking around the Wellington waterfront, mapping out landmarks and visiting animals at the Zoo. As you know, we had to postpone our Family Fun Day this term due to unforeseen circumstances. The new date is Saturday the 22nd of May. We will send out a notice reminding you of the fun to be had early next term. The 2021 Kimi Ora School Production We are very excited to announce that this year we will be thrilling the crowds with our biannual Kimi Ora School Production! We thought we should give you plenty of notice of the dates of the production this year and let you know a little about how it will look. Those who have seen our previous productions will know that over the years our students and staff have been very innovative and ‘out of the box’ when it comes to including all our students in our production and this year will be no different! This year we are delighted to present a production/exhibition. For now, we can tell you that there will be two events happening over two days during school time (Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th September) as well as an evening exhibition that will be held on Tuesday the 14th of September - so please put these dates in your calendar! Kia ora rā e hoa! This term we have welcomed four new staff to Kimi Ora! We welcome three new teacher aides: Jean who is working in Piwakawaka at Base, Giorgi who is working in Kahu at Base and Eeshani who has joined the team at Pomare. We have also welcomed Deirdre who has started working as an Art Therapist at Evans Bay this term and next term will begin working with students in the Hutt as well.
Haere rā e hoa! We are very sad to have to say goodbye to Ilan Karthick who was in Ruru class at Pomare. Ilan and his whānau are moving to Australia. We will all miss Ilan’s enthusiasm and cheery attitude towards school. He has made many wonderful achievements at Kimi Ora and we wish him well at his new school. Juliette Croce, Teacher and Teacher Aide at our Evans Bay Satellite has also resigned. This has come after Juliette’s time on maternity leave as she has decided she would like to spend more time with her daughter Fleur. We thank Juliette for her time spent working alongside our tamariki, she has been a valued team member whose passion, enthusiasm and energy will be missed.
