Stephen Hall Acting Principal Bookclub News: Scholastic Book Club Issue 3 Book Club catalogues have been sent home this week. Orders will close on Wednesday 5th May. Thank you for using – LOOP – Linked Online Ordering and Payment available on www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP or download the LOOP Apple or Android app. Please note Glass House Mountains Primary State School is not accepting cash orders. Please do not send any orders to school. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our library and classrooms, however there is never any obligation to order. In the catalogue you will find great award-winning books, as well as old and new favourites. They span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and are great value. Limiting ‘Screen time’ is a concern in most homes. Book Club is a great way to re-engage in books at home. Kids are excited about reading, especially when they get to choose a good ‘fun’ book themselves. Kids tell us they are more likely to enjoy and finish a book that they have chosen themselves. It is important for your child to attend every school day. School absenteeism can impact significantly on students' learning and wellbeing. Research shows that in Queensland, higher student attendance is associated, on average, with higher student achievement. Also, attending school every day helps children to build social and emotional skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience. Under the law, parents/carers must make sure their child attends school on all school days unless there is a reasonable excuse. All schools monitor the attendance of students and check with parents and carers any unexplained absences. If your child does not want to go to school, please let us know so we can offer our assistance and support.
