Term 2 Week 8 Livingstone Street, Belmont NSW 2280 belmont-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au Ph 4945 4858 Fax 4947 7823 www.belmont-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/ Dear Parents/Caregivers, Coronavirus Information and updates Activities/site usage that can take place from Monday 15 June 2020 • School assemblies (limited to 15 minutes and no external visitors) • Choirs and performing arts at school, with safety protocols in place • Students may attend other schools for essential curriculum related reasons or placements (e.g. auditions or placement tests) • Incursions/external providers can provide activities that support delivery of curriculum (e.g. music tutors, sport skills development programs, science demonstrations, drama tutors, Healthy Harold). • Day field trips to outdoor locations with no physical distancing requirements can take place • School photos Activities/site usage that can take place from the beginning of Term 3 Inter-school student events and competitions (choirs, sport, debating, public speaking, performing arts, Selective Sports High School trials etc) • Scripture lessons • P&C meetings – with a strong preference for on-line • Parent/teacher meetings – where these need to take place – strong preference for online where possible unless involving serious matters that require face to face discussion • Community use activities involving general adult attendance (such as community markets). All school sport and activities including competitions aligned with current health advice (including those activities run by external organisations) Attendance Students are required to attend school everyday. If your child is unable to attend due to illness please let the office know ASAP. Beanies for Brain Cancer Fundraiser This Thursday, students are encouraged to wear a beanie to school to support our SRC fundraiser “Beanies for brain cancer” and the Mark Hughes Foundation. Students need to make a gold coin donation if they wear a beanie. Reports In line worth the Department of Education reporting guidelines our school reports have been modified for Semester 1. Students will bring home their reports in Week 10 this Term. Parent teacher interviews will hopefully be scheduled in Term 3.
Uniforms The P&C have sourced a short and long pant option that is unisex, so boy and girls can choose to wear the new shorts and long pants on any day of the week. The yellow polo shirt will still be required for Fridays. The new shorts and pants will be ready in 12 weeks to order. Photos and pricing will follow in a few weeks. PBL We are learning about the expectations for playing fairly. We will have a short COLA PBL draw this Wednesday afternoon. Canteen Our canteen is open for lunch orders everyday. Please see the attached modified menu. Could students please place their orders before school. Mobile Phones & Wrist Devices Any student who carries a mobile phone with them to school is required by Departmental policy to hand their phone into the office as soon as they enter the school grounds. The phones are kept in a safe place for the duration of the day and collected by students at home time. The same policy also applies to the wearing of wrist devices that have phone call capabilities. If any student wears this device to school they too need to hand them in at the Office as soon as they arrive at school.
