Book Week Dress Up Today was dress up day for Tiny Tiger and how amazing did all of the children and staff look dressed in their favourite characters from their favourite books. We had Delina and Miss Brielle come dressed as Emma Wiggle and Miss Kate came as Captain feather sword and dressed up like a pirate and so did Har- ry, Dylan borrowed Harrys hat and be- came a pirate too, and Mr Ronan and Oakley came as Simon and Anthony wiggle. Cody dressed like a minion. We all had so much fun dressing up to end a very fun week.
Wiggles painting In the theme of The Wiggles for book week and to also involve the children’s knowledge of colours, the educators gave the children the opportunity to free paint with the main colours of the Wiggles. Allowing the children to express their own creativity with little restrictions encourages healthy creative and cognitive development in the children. The colours the children got to choose from were blue, red, yellow and purple; rep- resenting the four Wiggles. The children could choose to swap colours when they wanted to create beautiful mixtures of colour on their page. Dora, Nami and Zai- dyn chose to go this creative route as they swirled the brush onto the page; mix- ing all four colours to create entirely new colours which also began to mix. Meanwhile George, Dylan and Oakli chose to utilise the whole page and spread their colours out. This would lead to a wide array of the four colours spread even- ly throughout the page. It is important to let the children themselves plan and execute how they wanted to paint. Independent creativity is an important area for development for their age group and benefits them later in life.
Slippery slide What fun, we have new out door equipment to play with. The past couple of days we have been interested in play- ing on the new slide in the baby yard. As you can tell Jayden, Delina, Oakley, Nami Harry and Dora found the slide amusing as they would use their gross motor skills to climb up the ladder and then sit down to slide downwards. They went in turns down the slide and did this on repeat until it was time to come inside for lunch. Oakley was even confident enough to go down the slide on his belly. Nami always made use that her doll baby got a turn on the slide before she did. Delina wasn't sure at first if he liked the slide as she was quite hesitant to climb up the ladder and slide down, but after watching her friends have turns she build up the courage to have a go herself. Once Delina had a turn on the slide she realised it was fun and excit- ing as she continued to play on the slide until lunch. George was unsure of the slide yesterday, but today he was brave to give it a try. George went down the slide once and decided once was enough and went on to play else where.
