T C N J P A R E N T N E T W O R K TAKE YOUR CHILD TO (VIRTUAL) WORK DAY April 22, 2021 Dear Colleagues & Fellow TCNJ Parents, You asked for it! Back by popular demand, we present "Take Your Child to (Virtual) Work Day!" We hope your kids will have fun with the activities we've put together (with a lot of help from across campus!). Special thanks to all of our contributors! Please share pics and videos of you and your children participating in "Take Your Child to (Virtual) Work Day" with Mary Lehr-Furtado (furtadom@tcnj.edu) or upload to your Google Drive, and share with Mary. Please send pics/videos by Friday, May 7th. Stay tuned for our TCNJ Parent Network 2020-21 slideshow! HAVE FUN, Your TCNJ Parent Network Co-Chairs Michelle Ordini, Matt Middleton, & Mary Lehr-Furtado COLORING CONTEST! - Print out one of the coloring pages at the end of this program for your child(ren) to color. - Snap a picture of them holding their picture, and email to Mary Lehr-Furtado (furtadom@tcnj.edu) to be entered into a TCNJ swag bag contest! - Pictures will be featured in our TCNJ Parent Network slideshow.

Novak Live Session! 3:30 - 4:30 pm: STEM SketchUp Activity w/ Professor Matthew Cathell BEFORE THE SESSION: Install software: ~5–10 minutes For a step-by-step video of this process, see SketchUp Tutorial 1 — Downloading & Installing Navigate to https://help.sketchup.com/en/downloading-older-versions Find a link for SketchUp Make 2017 (skip past the two “Pro” versions) and download the file appropriate for your computer (Windows or Mac). Install the software on your computer. Make free Trimble account (optional and recommended): ~1 minute With a free Trimble account, SketchUp users will be able to extend their creativity and fun by downloading 3D models from the SketchUp “3D Warehouse). An adult can help the student make an account at https://web.connect.trimble.com/ Make sure the student copies down the username and password for the account.

Music Fun: TCNJ's K-8 Music Education Practicum Class, taught by Professor Ingrid Ladendorf, created a super fun video full of rhythm, singing, and storytelling! You'll learn "The Cup Song" and join a drum circle! Click here to begin your jam session! Save the Paw Patrol Pups!: To the Lookout! The Paw Patrol needs YOUR help! Professor Manuel Figueroa (along with some very special helpers) has created an awesome STEM activity for your little ones. Scratch the News: Professor Kim Pearson of the Journalism Department has shared a quick interactive video in the program called scratch with you about the Journalism Department and would like you to try and make a Scratching the News entry for yourself! 1. Check out Professor Pearson's video first. 2. Create your own project! Share something that you think others will find exciting and a fun part of your family or school news! Pocket Solar System: Create your own pocket solar system with Professor Lauranne Lanz from the Physics department! Learn how far apart everything is in our solar system!
