St Paul’s Catholic School Thursday 30th March, 2023 Vision: At St Paul’s we know, love and serve God. Mission To provide a collaborative, holistic learning environment founded on Catholic ideals. A gentle reminder that our school values are: S elf-less Whaiaro-iti T rustworthy Whakapono P roud to be Catholic Ngakaunui Ki a Katorikia A dventurous Rikarika U nderstanding Mohiotanga L oving Aroha S triving for Excellence E Tohe mo te Hirang Kia ora, koutou, Thank you to everyone who has booked Goal Setting interviews for today and next Tuesday. It’s important to touch base with your child’s classroom teacher at these interviews as they make up part of the school’s reporting to parents process for the year. The reporting to parents process starts with Goal Setting interviews. These will inform you of your child’s 5 Dispositions goals for Term 1, which then leads to progress reports at the end of Term 2. There is a parent interview in Term 2. The year finishes with a written report stating your child’s academic progress and a general and Religious Education comment. Reporting to Parents on Student Progress and Achievement - as seen on School Docs Outlined below are the main ways we report to parents on student progress and achievement. Teachers can also consider other ways of exchanging information with parents that are sensitive to the parents’ needs and culture. Formal Interviews During the year, parents are invited to attend at least two formal in-depth interviews. A goal-setting interview is held in Term 1, and a parent interview is held in Term 2 to discuss progress. eTAP Spotlight Learning experiences are shared throughout each term to inform parents of class learning, and give parents an opportunity to provide feedback and comments. Reports Each student, apart from new entrants, receives two written reports each year. Reports are sent mid-year and at the end of the year, and are written in plain English. The progress report in Term 2 also reports on the school’s five dispositions and involves goal setting. The written report in Term 4 includes general comments and Religious Education comments. Reading, writing, and maths levels are also reported. Informal Interviews Parents can contact the classroom teacher at times other than parent interviews to discuss any issues or concerns they may have with their child/children’s learning, social, or academic progress. The school asks that parents seek a time that is suitable for both themselves and the classroom teacher before a meeting takes place. New Entrants Year 1 students have a goal-setting interview with parents at the beginning of the year regarding the school’s five dispositions. At the end of June, an interview is held to discuss progress on the dispositions, academic progress, and to set goals for the rest of the year. Ma te Atua koutou e Manaaki, God Bless you all. Shaun Emms
This week’s focus, Fruit of the Holy Spirit, is “LOVE”. Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment like when you love your Mum and Dad or when you love your brother and sister. Love might look like you’re doing a kind thing for someone. It can be helping out at a rest home and reading to someone elderly. You are challenged this week to think about how can you show the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Love, at school? SUNDAY MASS — St Paul’s Church — 10.30am Children’s Liturgy every 2nd Sunday. All Welcome Being present at the celebration of Sunday Mass is the highlight of our week. We encourage Parents & Caregivers to bring their children along.
