Visiting the Counseling Office O Open door policy: Walk in and meet with your counselor before school, during snack, lunch, or after school. School psychologists Ms. Howell and Mr. Villalobos are here too. We are all here to help support you. O If we aren’t able to meet with you when you stop by, write your name on our clipboards (right by our office door) so we know that you want to meet with us. We will call you into our office as soon as we can. O The gusd.net/cvhs website (link to students, then counseling) can answer many questions. Forms you may be looking for are posted there.

Balance – noun “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady” Your feelings are important! If you are overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious, everything becomes out of balance. Ideas to help you achieve balance: O Relax – take deep breaths O Be Mindful – be aware and IN the moment O Get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise O Spend time with friends and family – go for a walk together O Talk to your parents, friends, counselor – reach out for help O Think positive – positive self-talk really does help
Academic & Personal/Social Support • If you are struggling in your classes - reach out for help. • If a friend is struggling, encourage them to ask for help. • Talk to your teachers, counselor, parents, and friends. • Attend free tutoring in the library after school Monday through Thursday and the subject specific Help/Enrichment centers. • Speak with your counselor about other intervention opportunities that are available. • If you are struggling emotionally, reach out to an adult- your parent, your counselor, a teacher, or your AP. • We ALL want you to succeed.
