The inaugural Adelaide Mini Maker Faire took place 2013 in April 2013. The largest of its kind in Australia, the Sponsors event entertained over 4000 attendees. “On a bright April day in Adelaide a large crowd gathers together to experience high- and low-tech gadgetry. Visitors gape at 3D printers and cosmic ray detectors. Robotics workshops jostle with people. A flying carpet can be seen in the distance. Hobbyists, DIYers and inventors have come out from their sheds, garages, basements and workshops to collaborate and access the expertise of others. Invention, creativity and resourcefulness abound in every corner. Wherever you look, it seems, people of all ages are taking things apart and testing new ways of putting them back together.” Deloitte. 2014 Adelaide College of the Arts 64 Exhibitors 3D printing; blacksmithing; electronics; home made Daleks; electronic vehicles; spinning & weaving; cosmic ray detectors Fab Lab flying carpet; holographic displays; laser cutting; guitar making; Adelaide book-binding; automata; smoke ring vortex; land yachting; tinsmithing Diverse Speaker Programme Stephen Yarwood - Adelaide Lord Mayor Dr Genevieve Bell - Intel (former Thinker in Residence) Alan Noble - Director of Engineering Google Australia/NZ Dr. Rob Morrison & Dr. Deane Hutton - The Curiosity Show Reuben Acciano - Communications Manager, Pozible Zoz Brooks - MIT and Discovery Channel Workshops Electronics & soldering; robotics; moulding & casting; brooch making; sock-puppets Adelaide Mini Maker Faire is set to return in 2015 and we need your help to make it bigger and better. www.makerfaireadelaide.com
