SOCCER: WOMEN’S All business conducted by sport committees must be submitted as recommendations to the Administrative Committee. I. Regular Season A. Schedule 1.All Crossroads League schools will play a league schedule consisting of nine games to begin on Saturday, September 25, 2021 and be completed by Tuesday, November 2, 2021. 2. All Crossroads League games will be played every Wednesday/Saturday unless a rain make-up date is utilized. 3.If two Crossroads League schools play twice during the season, the league match must be declared to the Crossroads League women’s soccer chair before the start of the season. B. Regular Season League Champion 1.The regular season Crossroads League champion will be determined by the most points within league play. 2.Points are based on: Wins = 3 points; Ties = 1 point; Loss = 0 points 3.If two teams are tied for first place during the regular season using the above point system, they will be declared co-champions and each will receive a trophy. II. Rules Governing Play – The NCAA rulebook will govern all regular and postseason play with the NAIA playoff roster being the exception. A. If a league game is suspended and not resumed on the scheduled date, the game will be resumed at the point it was suspended on a date agreed upon by both coaches and both athletic directors. If the game meets minimal time limits as established by NCAA rules, it will be considered an official game after 70 minutes have been played B. Monday, November 1 or Tuesday, November 2 is a scheduled open date to be used for rescheduled league games if necessary to ensure all league games are completed by tournament play. If coaches cannot decide on which date to play, then November 2 will be the scheduled date of competition. III. Official Ball – In regular season play, Crossroads League schools may use the ball of their choice, but the official NAIA championship ball (Select) is recommended. The official NAIA championship ball (Select) will be used during the Crossroads League postseason tournament. The host school(s) will be responsible to provide the official NAIA championship ball (Select). If available by contract these balls may be supplied by the NAIA National Office. IV. Officials A. Please note the Crossroads League schools will be using a voucher system for all officials’ payments. 88 Crossroads League Procedures Manual 2021/2022
C. The assigner will send each institution a list of assigned officials prior to the beginning of the season. D. The three-man officiating system must be used and a fourth official (if necessary) should be provided by the host institution at no charge to the Crossroads League. (The fourth official may be the athletic director or his appointee and shall be responsible for bench/scorer’s table management and should work in cooperation with the designated game referee.) E. League schools will pay officials $205.00 for the referee and $135.00 for the assistant referees per contest. The same fee structure will be used for the Crossroads League Tournament, but those fees will be paid by the league. F. An alternate official for the championship game of the Crossroads League Tournament should be assigned at a cost of $100. G. Coaches are to evaluate the official’s game performance after each match. This process has been put in place to help improve the quality of all Crossroads League matches and to ensure that officials are accountable to the Crossroads League for their performance. Evaluation forms can be found at www.arbitersports.com. V. League Tournament A. The top eight (8) teams in the final league standings will compete in the league tournament. B. Standings at the end of regular season play will be used for determining seeding for the League Tournament and for All-Sports Trophy purposes. C. In the event of a tie in the final league standings, the following tie-breaker procedure will be used in order for the purpose of seeding teams into the league tournament. 1.Crossroads League head-to-head results 2.Overall regular season Massey Rating 3.Crossroads League goal differential 4.Coin toss between teams, to be administered by the women’s soccer sport chair. D. In the event of ties between three or more teams in the final league standings, the same tie-breaker as above (Letter C) should be used with the following principle to be followed: Tiebreaker #1 will use the aggregate head-to-head record among the tied teams in an attempt to break the tie. Furthermore, once one team is eliminated via one of the first two tiebreakers, then the tiebreaking process should start over at Tiebreaker #1 between the remaining teams until all ties have been broken. E. All Saturday Crossroads League Tournament games should be scheduled at 1:00 pm or later, based on the mutual agreement of the participating institutions’ coaches and athletic directors. For host institutions that have lighted fields, a 7:00 pm start time is recommended, but not required. If a mutual agreement cannot be reached by both institutions, then a 2:00 pm start time will be set for institutions without lighted fields and 7:00 pm for institutions with lighted fields. The home team must notify assigner of time change at least 72 hours in advance. 89 Crossroads League Procedures Manual 2021/2022
F. Qualifying Tournament Procedure 1.The No. 1 seed after league play or the highest seed in the tournament would compete in the NAIA National Tournament if we are unable to hold any or all of the Crossroads League Tournament. G. Seeding will be determined by regular season standings. Once the seeding is set, it is followed throughout the tournament. Higher seeds will host. H. Playoff Structure First Round: #1 vs. #8 | #4 vs. #5 | #2 vs. #7 | #3 vs. #6 (Saturday, November 6, 2021) Semifinals: #1/#8 Winner vs. #4/#5 Winner | #2/#7 Winner vs. #3/#6 Winner (Saturday, Nov 10, 2021) Championship: Semifinal Winners (Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021) I. The host athletic director in conjunction with the women’s soccer chair will coordinate the Crossroads League Women’s Soccer Tournament. J. Financial Report Form – Host school(s) for all Crossroads League Postseason contests will use the supplied Financial Report Form to report expenses and gate revenues to the League Commissioner. Revenue (net) and the Financial Form are to be forwarded to the League Office one week after the Crossroads League postseason is complete. VI. NAIA Postseason Qualification – The winner of the Crossroads League Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship. VII. All-Crossroads League Teams A. Each coach will send their nominees by e-mail to reach the Crossroads League Women’s Soccer chair by 9 p.m. on the Sunday following the conclusion of the regular league season. B. Each coach will nominate as many players as they chose for All-League and rank them accordingly. Each coach will nominate a player for Player of the Year (POY), Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY), Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY), Midfielder of the Year (MOY), and Newcomer of the year (NOY) if they choose on their nomination form. Each coach will vote for Coach of the Year (COY) on their nomination form. C. Nomination forms will be tabulated by position and a voting ballot will be created by the League chair with all nominations including name, number, school, year, hometown/state and sent to each league coach. A separate form will be created for the individual awards and sent out. D. League coaches will meet via Zoom on the Sunday following the last league game to discuss nominations and vote for All-Crossroads League First Team, consisting of 22 players (7 Forwards, 7 Midfielders, 6 Defenders, 2 Keepers). In the event of a tie, two additional players will be named All-League. We will also vote for POY, OPOY, DPOY, MOY, and NOY awards. 90 Crossroads League Procedures Manual 2021/2022
a. Coaches will not vote for their players for All-League. Coaches may vote for their players for POY, OPOY, DPOY, MOY, and NOY. b. After teams have been selected, coaches will then vote on POY, OPOY, DPOY, MOY, NOY and COY. These individuals will be named the recipient for each of those awards respectively. Coaches may vote for their players in this poll. c. Any player who receives at least one vote will be considered All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention. E. Coaches will then review top vote getters from the All-CL Team and revote for who to put forth as the top-14 players for the All-American nominations. F. The top 4 forwards, 4 midfielders, 4 defenders and 2 goalkeepers of our 22 All-League Team players will be nominated on the bottom portion of the All-American nomination form. G. All coaches will vote for one coach for Coach of the year. The coach with the highest vote total will be named Coach of the Year. H. In the event of ties in the Player of the Year or Coach of the Year, a Co-Player or Co-Coach of the Year award will be given. I. Voting results for All-League teams will be made available to all Crossroads League Women’s Soccer coaches. If votes are taken by ballot, the ballot results will be shown to all Crossroads League Women’s Soccer coaches. If the votes are taken verbally, the verbal results will be documented for all Crossroads League Women’s Soccer coaches to see. J. Following selection of All-Crossroads League Teams the sports chair will submit a complete list of award winners, including votes received and indicating any ties or special circumstances, to the Crossroads League Sports Information Director by the end of the following day. VIII. League Rater and National Rater A. The positions of League/National Rater and League Chair will rotate every three years. In the final year of either term, the rater or chair will work with an “apprentice” to train the incoming rater or chair on the job duties. Both positions will be filled by nominations and a vote from the Crossroads League women’s soccer coaches. Any coach may serve to consecutive terms in either position only if elected by the body of Crossroads League women’s soccer coaches. One coach may NOT hold both positions at the same time. IX. Film Exchange A. The home team of CL games is responsible to share the link with the upcoming opponents by noon the following day of the conclusion of the CL match. The link stays live for 24 hours, then can come down. B. Any coach not posting the link in time gets eliminated from receiving the next two matches. C. Postings will take place for Crossroads League matches only. D. CL schools are not permitted to share film or scouts on other CL schools with teams outside of the league. 91 Crossroads League Procedures Manual 2021/2022
E. Failure to comply with requirements listed above may fall under Article XIII Unsportsmanlike Conduct Policy and be subject to disciplinary action by the CL Comissioner. 92 Crossroads League Procedures Manual 2021/2022
