Michigan JCI Senate July 2021 THE FILIBUSTER Greetings fellow Senators! To say that being elected president is an honor, is a huge understatement for me. I am truly humbled to be a part of this organization and consider myself truly blessed to be amongst some of the strongest and smartest individuals I have ever been associated with. Since my first Jaycee event I found myself in pursuit of another program to be involved in, another experience to learn from someone, and could not wait for the next convention! Inside this issue Once aged out my wife, Kristin #75685, and I found ourselves still involved From President Jeff 1 with our friends and fellow Jaycees. We worked festivals as volunteers, I From Chaplin Debbie 2 pounded fence stakes in the ground, ran forklifts and probably the most From V.P. Tom 3 rewarding experiences were mentoring newer Jaycees. Simply passing From Secretary Tanya 4 down knowledge either that was passed on to me or something I learned Upcoming Events 5 (most likely the hard way) puts a smile on my face. MI JCI Senate Sightings 6 Helping others in their pursuit of growth is extremely satisfying. With all of that being said our slogan for this upcoming year is “ENDLESS Board of Directors PURSUITS”! President: I would like to introduce you to the ENDLESS PURSUITS Team: Jeff Titsworth #75684 Vice President: Wendy Taylor #71712 Vice Presidents: Vice President: Tom Quackenbush #78225 Wendy Taylor #71712 Treasurer: Bridgette Rillema #74269 Tom Quackenbush #78225 Secretary: Tanya Quackenbush #78291 Chaplin: Deb Mogdis #62260 Secretary: Tanya Quackenbush #78291 Our goal this year is to help others in whatever their ENDLESS PURSUIT is. We want to encourage seasoned Senators to give back to their chapters or Treasurer: other chapters by sharing their bank of knowledge. Bridgette Rillema #74269 We want to help others find something that they are passionate about and want to pursue, but might not know how to go about doing it. Continuing Chaplin: in the Jaycee tradition, we will always pursue the start of new Debbie Mogdis #62260 programming to enhance our ability to give back as a group. Life Member Trustee: I want to encourage everyone to continue your ENDLESS PURSUITS, Nina Perko-Badeen whatever they may be. If you know of senators that have not been around in a while, encourage them to come to a convention or one of our functions! Thank you all and I look forward to meeting and learning from as many of you as possible in the near future! Be good humans and Prost!, Jeff Titsworth #75684, Michigan JCI Senate President “Endless Pursuits”
From Chaplin Debbie Mogdis Hello Michigan JCI Senate, Let me introduce myself to you, your 2021-2022 Chaplain. My name is Deb Mogdis, Senator #62260. I reside on the Westside of the State, in Fruitport, a small community between Grand Rapids and Muskegon. I am a Past President of Greater Muskegon Jaycees and the 39th President of the Michigan JCI Senate. I was blessed with my Senatorship 29 years from my home Chapter, Greater Muskegon Jaycees. I am happy to be a part of President Titsworth's Endless Pursuits Team. If you are a Facebook Member, you may have noticed my first task as your Chaplain this year. I will be placing a Thursday Thought on our page. This will be just a positive statement to help you get through the end of the week and enjoy the weekend. If you are not a Facebook user and wish to have this Thought sent to you another way, just let me know. If you ever have a happy occasion or, unfortunately, a sad one that you need extra prayers for, let me know. You don't have to be specific, just request Prayers Lifted and we will send out a chain of PRAYERS, STRENGTH, HUGS - whatever is needed to surround you with hope and love. I know we do not see each other as much as we used to, but this is my way to reach out to all of you that I have grown to love so much - you are my (friends that are family) FRAMILY! May your God continue to bless you and keep you in his arms! Debbie Mogdis, #62260 (cell) 231-329-0969 | (email) debmogdis@gmail.com 2
From VP Tom Quackenbush Greetings! I’m Tom Quackenbush and I am honored to have been elected as Vice President for the 2021-2022 year. I am a Senator from Frankenmuth and was able to serve in many positions on the JCI Michigan state board. I am excited to get this year started, we can finally start plan- ning events and socials that we can do IN PERSON. I know I am ready to do a little traveling to see everyone and share some laughs. We are already working on putting together a social in Frankenmuth, along with many other great events like Jeans and Jewels. The “most excellent” John Badeen and I will be running hospi- tality again this year so make sure join us for a Bourbon and maybe a little BBQ. Last of all I would like to thank everyone on the 20-21 Adventure Awaits board. They worked very hard to keep us all in contact through a very difficult year. They were able to accomplish a lot under so many restrictions. Prost! Tom Quackenbush # 78225 3
From Secretary Tanya Quackenbush Greeting and Salutations! I'm Tanya Quackenbush, a Senator from the Frankenmuth Jaycees and I’ll be serving as your Secretary this year. I like wine, cats, cat videos, pictures of cats, pictures of Nina Perko-Badeen's cats and laughing with friends. I will be working on updating the roster this year to try to get our information as up to date as possible. If you hear from me, the quicker you respond means the less you have to hear from me. I can't wait to see what is in store for this year and the Endless Pursuits of the entire organization. Prost! Tanya Quackenbush, #78291 4
