What are Skillshops? Skillshops are free workshops, or mini courses that provide real-life solutions to common student issues. 1. Encourage holistic development 2. Free to all students 3. Pre-registration required Skillshops will continue to be offered in a virtual format via Zoom and pre-registration is required to participate in each session. Review the lists for each term & find a Skillshop(s) you are interested in attending. Pre-Register for the Skillshop(s) using the provided linktr.ee link. You will then recieve an email with the link to the Zoom session. Join us! Distinctions Let’s Talk Career Action Valencia counselors provide emotional and academic support services to empower students to succeed at Global the College. Counselors facilitate curriculum based experiences to Ignite: Creative Thinking bring awareness and understanding to commonly experienced emotional Leadership and educational student challenges. Look for the “Let’s Talk” Icon Peace & Justice for counselor-led Skillshops. * Skillshops with these tags meet the Distinction requirements. 3
But wait, there’s more! Every time you log in to a Skillshop, you will be entered for a chance to win: a $25 a $300 Scholarship and Campus Store Gift Card! The more Skillshops you attend the higher your chances to win!* Supported by the Valencia Foundation and Student Development. * You must be on time and logged in for the entirety of the session to be eligible. Dual Enrollment students are not eligible. 4

National Suicide Prevention Week 9/5/2021 - 9/11/2021 College-Wide Virtual Event: “It’s Real: College Students and Mental Health.” Join us for this Skillshop featuring a documentary with personal stories of how college students experience depression and other mental health conditions, and shows how students can seek help and successfully manage these conditions. Interactive discussion will follow led by a BayCare health therapist. Pre-register for the session at linktr.ee/valenciaskillshops Depression Screenings will be available on East (9/16), Osceola (9/22), and West Campus (9/28). Free Mindfulness & Meditation Classes Koru Mindfulness is a 4 session no-credit course taught by Valencia Counselor Dr. Marcia Roman, that will teach you the skill of mindfulness. It will also help you build the habit of using it in your life on a regular basis. We’ve found that folks get a lot more out of Koru if they stick with it from beginning to end; therefore, pre- registration and attendance at all 4 sessions is required.
