Dakota was injured this season and was unable to join us on the field but kept the team in check on the side lines and in practice. Her positive attitude is always a breath of fresh air. This is her second year as a captain, she’s done an incredible job and we couldn't have asked for more from her. Eliza has come a long way in her skill and positive attitude. She comes to practice every day ready to work while keeping her teammates focused. She is a great leader, takes her captaincy very seriously and gets the job done with the support of her team.” —Coach Blake
Eliza, or E-Char as she’s known on the field, is the daughter of John Charette and Lynn Charette. A four-year forward on the varsity field hockey team, Eliza serves as captain for the 2017 season. Outside of field hockey, Eliza is a Senior Advisor, member of the Shield and Dragon Executive Committee, KO News Editor of the opinions section, and member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. She is also a four-year varsity lacrosse player. Eliza has served as a tutor at Grace Academy in Hartford and has been a Town of West Hartford Youth Sports referee for both field hockey and lacrosse the past four years. Eliza’s favorite memory from playing field hockey centers around the young team’s growth. “I don’t have one specific memory but I will never forget seeing this team grow each year and becoming a real family. The Westminster game this year was a perfect example of this as we held our own and played with pride. We supported each other even though we fell short at the end.” Her all-time favorite KO memory “is my endless talks with Steve Cannata,” and Eliza will most miss “the teachers and faculty that have encouraged me to do my best all seven years here.” “My seven years at KO taught me how to be a leader and fight for what I believe in.”

Dakota is the daughter of Sean and Nancy McMahon. She has been a varsity field hockey player for four years and served as captain her junior and senior seasons. As a sophomore, she was named to the Western New England Prep School Field Hockey Association All-Star Team. Dakota also plays varsity softball and has been a starter since her freshman year. She is also serving for the second year as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. Outside of athletics, Dakota is a member of Shield and Dragon, has been published in EPIC Magazine, and was a Camp KO Field Hockey Counselor/Coach in 2016 and 2017. Academically, Dakota was an Honor Roll student during her freshman and junior years and was a Moses Scholarship recipient. A multi-sport athlete, she is also a strong ice hockey player and plays on a local club team. Dakota’s favorite memory playing field hockey was “being able to play with my sister, Keegan, on the same field hockey team together, for my last year of high school.” Her all-time favorite KO memory is “playing in my first ever KO Hockey Night in front of the entire school.” Dakota plans on majoring in physical therapy in college. She will most miss “the sense of community and the many friendships I have made, the adrenaline rush of competing in varsity athletics, and the kind-hearted teachers and faculty that have helped me navigate my four years of high school.” “My four years at KO taught me to compete with wyvern pride and try new things .”
